Is he really going to ask me out?

I like this guy at my school and everyone I know(including his friends) says he likes me. He's even told me last thursday that he likes me and was to scared to ask me out the last time he was going to ask me out. Than he said he is going to ask me out on tuesday. Well, I just had surgery and he asked how I was doing but since than he hasnt talked to me at all. I've tried messeging him and texting him and he isnt repling. What do you think is going on with him?
