    It was actually only three months she had to spend with Hades. He tried to take her forever, but he couldn't. He gave her a pomegranate for her to eat. For each seed she ate, she would have to spend a month with him. She ate three seeds.

    Demeter, Persephone's mother, was never informed and spent those three months searching for her in dismay. Because she spent all her time searching for Persephone, she was too distracted to take care of the land. This led to their legend of why we have winter.
