What are your views on legalizing marijuana? After all, alcohol is legal and kills thousands every year. So do cigarettes! But marijuana has thousands of medicinal uses as well as making fabric and rope from hemp fibers. What do you think?

Making rope and textiles from HEMP, or the fiber pot is made from, IS legal. As for the medicinal uses, I don't know enough about it to say. 'Cause I don't go shooting off my mouth about stuff I know nothing about unlike many people.
Anyway, alcohol is good and is actually NOT that bad for you, if you have a little SELF CONTROL and COMMON SENSE. unfortunately, most people don't have these things....

I do know something about medicinal uses for marijuana. I watched my mother die of cancer and medical marijuana helped her to be able to eat so she could take her meds. It also helped with the pain and i believe it also kept her with us longer. The doctors gave her 6 months to 1 year to live and she made it almost 2 years. As for my self i use it to help me with my bipolar disorder. The medicine they prescribed for me had horrible side effects. It also made me unable to work and function.
i understand your problem, i also know personally people who were literally cured by such drugs, however i don't agree it should be legal, because many people who aren't sick (who don't need it as a cure) will start using it in a wrong way. And believe me, this side-effect of marijuana will be far more disastrous than anything else, and also this is the reason why it became illegal, because before it WAS legal (as a cure).
legalizing its use for recreational purposes would have more bad effects than good. its a debate that has many valid areas of input.
i don't think so, true, drugs has good effects, conditionally. there are more downsides in legalizing the drugs. :]
i think that they should make health care available to everyone so that if some one needs pot, they get it prescribed for them by a doctor who will identify if they need it or not. not legalize it, make it easier for people who actually need it to have it available for them more conveniently. as for those who just want it to get high, i have three words for you: get a hobby.
