stockgazor 06-22-2007 at 4:21 PMBusiness decision or ego, which will win? I think ego will. yahoo! has been around since the inception of internet, they cannot accept that they lost the search race. The problem with yahoo is that they are craming too much on their portal. Goog is keeping it simple. Yahoo need to seperate search from it's portal.
They are both strong companies and there are plenty of add dollars. Doing soo will keep the mochers(sp?) away from them.

Diego Montalvo 06-22-2007 at 5:46 PMIt would be ridiculous for Yahoo! to drop its search initiatives. In the past I thought that Google was far more superior in search, but I now find that Yahoo! is just as good as Google if not better in some searches. Yahoo! search is very good and I now use it about 60% of the time. I am pretty sure with Terry Semel stepping down as CEO, Yahoo! will save some money, Mr. Semel did nothing except make himself a rich man.

Fai-keung Ng 06-23-2007 at 12:37 PMWall Street is always very short-sighted. The world without Yahoo! will be a Google monopoly, think about the impact on price and TAC. That's not an idea situation both for advertisers and publishers.
Some companies would fill Yahoo!'s gap, had Yahoo! left this space and likely candidate is microsoft, which has much worse search technology than Yahoo!
