this is a really good question. once i said my dads jokes were gay and lame in drama class and my teacher gave me a lecture about how that means im using gay as a negative word and how i'm obviously homophobic and all, to tell you the truth i had never even thought of it that way, and i'm definitely not homophobic i dont think who you are attracted to changes you, or makes you any different to anyone else.
yah, and being gay is something you're born with, you don't really decide it. but some people try to hide it because they are afraid of being teased and stuff.
i don't like using the word "gay" that way, either. ive had gay friends who changed my attitude about that word. b4 i graduated from my high school, i tried my hardest 2 get ppl 2 stop saying it like that, but that's like trying 2 teach a dog new tricks, u know? i also have a problem w/ the word "f***t." a boy named matthew shepard was called a f* & murdered coz he was gay. as u can c, i can't even stand 2 spell it.

ya i think it does offend them and i hate myself for using "gay" negatively but i just cant stop its like a habbit. but im not homophobic or anything cuz i know people that are gay and it doesnt change the way i think about them at all so i dont know
totally offensive. whenever my friends say something/someone is gay, i remind them of the real defintion of that word and ask them how that has to do with being happy or a man loving another a man. for example, i find it extremely annoying when my classmates say stuff like "that binder is so gay!". and that binder has nothing to do with the actual definitions.

yeah, that binder was TOTALLY checking out that other male binder, it's definatley gay. :) lol

gay has two meanings: It can mean happy or it can be a negative name for homosexuals. It depends on who your calling gay but its not a good word to use.
Well, using "gay" negatively is usually something a kid would do - "oh that's gay!" "your gay"... I have never heard a an adult or mature teen resorting to the word gay like that.
i agree...also.im gay and i dont have a problem wiht people saying somthings gay..they just meen its stupid..but when someone calls someone gay who isnt i think its just rude.

I always accidentally use 'gay' insultively, like 'you are so gay!'...But I don't mean homosexual, and I am perfectly comfortable with gay people.
