- Shelley absolutely hates math. Whenever we work on fractions she gets the jitters and she balls up. Just give her a few minutes and she'll be back on her feet.
- Shelley's parents don't have jobs. She has a hard life at home.
- Shelley does this all the time. I have spoken to her mother several times about this foolish behavior.

Which of the items below describes how you teach your minilesson in reading?
- I first do a pre reading activity I linked to my power point on the web. We then go into the agenda and we click on another link which is where my mini lesson is found. These are all hands on and I allow the students to use the Smartboard to do it.
- I show the agenda on a transparency on the overhead . I also show the mini lesson on the overhead. Students have assigned jobs to read certain parts of the agenda and making sure everything is covered.
- I usually have the agenda written on the whiteboard. I read it all to the students and then I jump into the lesson.

How do you feel about students who have scored below basic on standardized tests?
- I analyze this data and use this as a means to base my instruction.
- I refer these students for help. It is too hard to differentiate.
- I teach them like I teach everybody else. I've got standards to cover!

How could you make a math lesson on polyhedrons more engaging?
- Have students to get in groups and using geometric shapes compose the polyhedrons. Then have students to record their steps on the computer or draw a sketch using the geo sketch pad.
- Have the students draw on chart paper various polyhedron shapes.
- Have the students use their body parts to form polyhedron shapes. This is challenging!

When offered feedback about your instruction, if you were to hear "It wasn't engaging enough!", how would you feel?
- I would look for ways to engage all students. Feedback is how we become better teachers.
- I would just "prep" my children for visitors so they will pay attention on demand.
- I would keep teaching the way I have been. This was a well put together lesson and I'm sorry if some students just can't pay attention.

Do you have fun while you teach?
- Yes, all of the time. I am always learning something new.
- Sometime. I just hate the morning time. It is so hard to get students up and engaged.
- Occasionally, I have fun. Behavior problems seem to kill my fun and get in the way of my instruction.
