You will be given several topic issues that are relevant in the current political climate in America. Read the answer choices carefully, and select the one that best represents the direction you would most like to see Government Policies go.

The purpose of this survey is not to determine your Party preference, but only to gauge who you feel about particular issues in general. Please answer all questions honestly.

Health Care
- I believe that providing Health Care coverage is a collective responsibility of all tax-payers
- I believe that providing Health Care coverage is an individual's responsibility

Bailouts
- I believe the government should use tax dollars to support failing businesses and industries until the economy recovers
- I believe that the success or failure of a business or industry should be decided by producers and consumers through commerce

Economic Growth
- I believe that government should take “windfall profits” from companies and set maximum salaries for their executives, because big business is taking advantage of consumers
- I believe that salary caps, windfall profit taxes, and increased regulation will drive more companies to overseas tax shelters, and deprive Americans of those jobs

Personal Liberty
- I believe that in the interest of preserving an orderly and uniform society, the government has a prerogative to decide matters of personal choice for the people (i.e., abortion rights, gay marriage, etc.)
- I believe that the government has no authority to tell free citizens how to live their lives. These decisions are far too personal and private, and should be guided by an individual's personal beliefs and local community standards

Government
- I believe that the government has a right and responsibility to do what it believes is in the best interest of the country, even if that means less liberty for it's people
- I believe that the Constitution of the United States is the supreme law, and the government MUST operate within the limits it provides

Religion
- I believe that the government should prohibit public expressions of religious faith
- I believe that so long as an expression of religious faith does not threaten life or liberty, the government should not interfere with public religious expression

Gun Rights
- I believe that if you outlaw firearms, and particularly handguns, we will live in a safer country
- I believe that banning firearms has no affect on criminals, since they don't obey the law anyway. Taking away our right to bear arms will only leave law-abiding citizens vulnerable to violent criminals

Defense
- I believe that our military should be armed and ready to preemptively seek out those people in foreign lands who wish to harm the United States and it's allies
- I believe the military should respond swiftly and decisively to an attack, even in an foreign land, but not preemptively, and not by waging war on an entire country
- I believe the military should withdraw all troops from foreign lands, and deploy those troops only within American borders, unless a foreign deployment is necessary to stop an invasion

Environment
- I believe we are each responsible for taking care of our environment, and I believe that combating global warming should be a priority for the government. More money needs to be spent and more regulation needs to be in place to reduce our “carbon footprint.”
- I believe we are each responsible for taking care of our environment, but I am not convinced that global warming is much more than a scare tactic designed to support the emergence of “green” industries that will profit enormously from our fears

Social Justice
- I believe that minorities are truly disadvantaged in this country and should receive special protections from the law
- I believe that there should be one set of rules for everyone, and everyone willing to take responsibility for their own success has the same opportunity in this country

Home Ownership
- I believe that the government should mandate that banks give home loans to people who wouldn't normally qualify because of low incomes or poor credit, in order to level the playing field for disadvantaged people
- I believe that no bank should be forced to risk other people's money in order to give home loans to people who can't afford to repay them, or whose credit history shows that they do not pay their bills. The playing field will be level for those people when they become responsible for their income and debts
