Are you a hard drinking literary type? A person with a gift for gab, a razor-sharp wit, and little interest in actually working? This quiz is for you. Order a Martini, have a seat, and let's see what's hiding under the tablecloth.

It's 11:30 in the morning. You're in your room. You can hear the shower running, but have no idea who's in there. Do you:
- Assume it's your niece visiting from upstate?
- Knock on the door politely and inquire if the bather needs a towel, or a drink?
- Sneak out because you're running late: you'd said you'd be at the theatre at 11:00!
- Rush to the closet, don a fetching bedjacket, freshen your lipstick, and call room service for a tray of drinks?
- Phone the office, apologize for not being there, and tell them you got held up at a dental appointment but you'll be in soon?
- Grab a pen and paper and start taking notes.

You're at lunch. You haven't eaten all day. You are starving! What would you like to eat?
- Some dry toast and a shaker of Martinis.
- Some tomato soup, two grilled cheese sandwiches, maybe some celery and olives, and we'll see the dessert cart... oh, and a shaker of Martinis.
- A scoop of tuna salad on lettuce, and a Martini.
- Pastrami on rye, mustard, and a Martini or two.
- Ham and cheese, dry... and a Martini, just one to start.
- A bowl of vichysoisse, then maybe a lamb chop, some rice pilaf... and we'll start with a shaker of Martinis.

You've just heard the most amazing story about a fetching young actress and her social life. It might not be true, but it probably is. What do you do with this information?
- Publish it in your column. Brazenly. Even if it's not true, it'll move papers.
- Keep your mouth shut but take notes for future use.
- Hope that it doesn't make the press, since it probably won't reflect so well on you, either... you thought diamonds were a girl's best friend, not diaries!
- Speak quietly but unpleasantly of the actress, and pour another drink, being sure to offer her one the next time your paths cross.
- Invite her to sit with you when you run into her at "21" -- she'll tell you everything, and then you can really do something with it.
- Refrain from public comment; really, this sort of thing is not your style. But you'll be happy to join her in a drink, any time.

You've just realized that it's the end of the month, and you don't quite have the rent in your checking account. What do you do?
- Beg for an advance on your salary, offering to buy your boss, Harold, a drink while you talk it over.
- Pull out an old manuscript that you really hadn't thought too much of and sell it to the Saturday Evening Post for a quick couple grand.
- Dip into savings. You can pay it back after you get the check from Hollywood.
- Tell the landlord it'll come, and be a little more daring than usual at the poker game to get what you need.
- Stop buying food and focus on drink, to save a little cash -- the landlord will understand if you're just a little short and you could stand to lose the weight anyway.
- Tell one of your girls that it's over. When she throws the emerald bracelet you gave her at you, you take it back to Tiffany's. A small nuisance, but really, not a serious problem.

It's Thanksgiving. What are you plans?
- Thanksgiving? You've never heard of such a thing.
- You'll be hosting a small, affectionate group of relatives at your home. The wife makes an excellent turkey with oyster dressing.
- Holidays -- it's tough, but you work right through them. The gossip mills don't stop just cause every other mill does.
- Work: dinner is a rushed affair, and the holidays are always busy on Broadway.
- Visit family, where no one really understands you, and take notes... it's all useful, really, if a little painful. They just don't understand your life in the big city, do they?
- Spend it with your nearest and dearest -- whoever happens to be at the Oak Room.
