Tired of having to explain this. hopefully I can spread some knowledge.
From what I've seen,no one seems to understand anything about this.

First of all, what are 'labels', when people use them in the correct way?
- They are names taken from subultures, music scenes, movements, the embodiment of the mainstream and other things of this nature
- False stereotypes
- Just style indicators
- people's identities

Should the names of these groups imply how people of the group should be?
- yes
- sometimes
- No, people may assume things about that group, or there may be general interest a majority of people in the groups share. but it should not imply how they must be.

Is it ok to 'label' people?
- no
- maybe
- It shouldn't matter, it's only associating them with a group. It's not branding them.

What do kids tend to do with with these groups?
- They tend to take the correct meaning
- They tend to take it out of context, and intereperate the wrong meaning.

So, should 'labeling' people be offensive?
- yes
- no
- depends on the person, if they agree then no: if they disagree, that can take it as an insult if they choose.

last question... are labels really that big of a deal?
- Yes
- No
