Catholics are usually seen as a completely separate entity. But you are correct, this is a bad poll.

Yes they are! They are seen as different, along with Eastern Orthodox (sometimes, Protestants and Anglicans too), because they are the original Christians. When a religious historian hears the term 'Christian' to describe a person's beliefs they assume that it means newer Cristian movements and 'found-again' Christians.

Sahara and Fred- Catholicism is a branch of Christianity. Don't believe it? Then you likely also think Christianity came before Paganism too, right? (Wrong!)

well, catholosism is a TYPE of christianity, and it has different ways of teaching and praising God! =) so therefore, it is not the same
Im going to have to agree Catholics are a type of Christian.
You might also want to be more specific with the whole other category.
if your goin to single out catholics then you'll have to add all the other christian religions like orthodoxy, luther and soo on and soo forth.

Aussie 07-30-2007 at 8:25 PMFirst off you misspelled Buddhist- secondly there are sooo many other religions out there that you could have included. I said Buddhist for lack of a better choice (cough Unitarian Universalist cough) but yea. This could've been much better.

Saying that Catholics are the same as other Christians is like saying I'm a Pagan because I'm Wiccan. It all Comes from the same roots but in the end they are different in their beliefs and worship. Oh yeah. and Why wasn't Wicca on this thing?
