I don't like Pearl/Diamond b/c a lot of the new pokemon have graphics, stats, and type combos that suck compared to the original 150 (I don't care what you say about mew.)
I think Gold/Silver/Crystal are best since the graphics are nearly identical in style to the original 150 and there were enough pokemon to catch without spending a huge chunk of your life on it.
