The role of the CASA Volunteer Advocate in a multicultural society is complex: Making determinations of what behaviors to label as abusive or neglectful, what interventions are needed, how to understand the causes of problems, and what is needed to help alleviate the stresses requires an understanding of the family's culture - including what is normal and acceptable within that culture.
