When a new lemur is added to the lemur habitat at the New York Zoo, a certain lemur king begins to fall for her. But how long will he hold back until he admits it?
All was normal at the Central Park Zoo, but the animals would soon be excited by the news the Penguins had, especially for the lemur habitat. Skipper and Kowalski enter the lemur habitat.
"Ring-Tail!" Skipper calls out.
Julien turns to Skipper and Kowalski as they approach his throne. He was polishing his feet with Mort's tail at the time, so Mort was hanging by his tail in Julien's hand.
"Silly penguins, what do you want?" Julien asks, tossing Mort to the side and leaping down from his throne.
"Well Julien, Skipper and I have found out some important information." Kowalski explains.
"What is it?" Julien asks.
"You're expecting a new member of your habitat Ring-Tail," Skipper says.
"What?!" Julien says.
"Yay! We're having a guest!" Mort cheers.
"Not a guest big eyes, this lemur's here to stay." Skipper says.
"But there cannot be another lemur here, three is enough!" Julien says.
"Well, you guys are missing one component of a habitat." Skipper says.
"What?" Julien says.
"A proper mate to breed with," Kowalski states.
"Um, come again?" Julien asks.
"A female you idiot!" Skipper blurts out.
"A female? Why would we need a female?" Julien says.
"Well, King Julien," Maurice says, walking up to Julien. "With just you, me and Mort around, it is kinda lonely. And plus, we do need to-reproduce." Maurice explains.
"Reproduce?" Julien asks.
"Make baby lemurs your majesty," Maurice says.
"Um, sorry Maurice, but Mort is enough to fill to space of the babies." Julien says, climbing back up on his throne.
"Well, too little too late Ring-Tail. She's supposed to be here in an hour," Skipper says.
"An hour? Your majesty, can we at least clean the place up a bit? If we are going to have a female around here, then we need to make her feel at home." Maurice explains.
"Alright, just do not disturb me." Julien says, leaping back in his throne and falling asleep.
An hour later, Alice comes walking up to the lemur habitat, rolling a crate in front of her. She stops in front of the habitat and pulls out a board and lays it from the railing to the center platform of the habitat. She then opens the crate and picks up the young black and white ruffed lemur sleeping in the crate. Alice walks across the board as the lemur begins to wake. She stretches and yawns in Alice's arms as they reach the center platform.
"There you go girl," Alice says, gently setting the ruffed lemur down on the platfrom.
The lemur tries to fully wake as Alice retreats across the board and pulls it away. Mort and Maurice approach the sleepy lemur.
"Hey, you alright?" Maurice asks.
The ruffed lemur rubs her eyes and looks up at Maurice with a yawn.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I just fell asleep on the way here." The ruffed lemur says, showing a slight Swahilian accent in her voice.
"Well, welcome to New York Miss. I'm Maurice," Maurice says.
"And I'm Mort," Mort blurts out.
The ruffed lemur stands up,
"Nice to meet the both of you," The ruffed lemur says. "My name is Avani,"
"Wow, you're tall as King Julien, Avani." Mort says.
"King Julien?" Avani asks.
"That would be me," Julien says, walking up to Avani.
"Well, it's nice to meet royalty," Avani says with a bow.
"Hm, of course, but why do you look a bit funny?" Julien says.
"Funny? Funny how?" Avani asks.
"Well, you don't look like any of us." Julien says.
"Well, that is true, I think that's because I'm a ruffed lemur." Avani explains.
"A ruffed lemur?" Maurice says.
"Yeah, you two are ring-tailed lemurs and Mort's a Mouse lemur. I'm guessing mixture of species," Avani explains.
"Wow, you sure know a lot for a jungle lemur." Maurice says.
"I wasn't in that crate the entire time. It was a 2 week trip so I snuck out sometimes and read the books the captain and the others shipmates had. But mostly the few encylopedias they had. And I have such good memory, I only have to look at something once and remember what it is." Avani explains.
"Oh, so you are a; how they say, smarty paints." Julien says.
"If you mean smarty pants then no, I just remember well." Avani says.
"Pff, whatever, smarts do not make a kingdom you know." Julien says.
"Actually, a king needs to understand economics to help his kingdom prosper. That and cultural understandings, mathmatical skills, leadership skills and most importantly-strategy." Avani explains.
"Wow, you have an answer for everything." Mort gaws.
"Well, almost everything. I only got to page 509 in the encylopdias before I was loaded off the ship. I still had 251 pages to go in each but technically 200 if you take away the 51 pages of index." Avani explains.
"You are just rubbing it in now," Julien snaps.
"I apologize King Julien," Avani says.
"I do not forgive such ignorance," Julien says.
"Julien, give her a break. She just got here 5 minutes ago and you're already on her case." Maurice says.
"Fine, I'm going for a walk," Julien says, leaping off the platform, off the moon bounce and out of the habitat.
"Don't mind him Avani," Maurice says.
"It's alright," Avani says glumly,
She feels something wrap around her legs, she looks down and sees it's Mort.
"Hugs make everything better," Mort says.
"Thank you Mort," Avani says.
"No problem," Mort says.
Suddenly, a scream echoed from across the zoo, making Mort jump back.
"That sounded like Julien," Maurice says.
"I got it," Avani says, leaping off the platform, off the moon bounce and out of the habitat then taking off in the direction of the screams, following them to the kangaroo habitat, where Julien was being chased by the kangaroo; Joey.
"Oh no," Avani gasps.
She leaps down onto a nearby bale of hay, hiding behind it as Joey corners Julien.
"I can't let him hurt Julien, I won't." Avani says.
She hops onto the bale of hay and leaps, diving at Joey. Joey sees Avani and tries to kick her. Avani grabs Joey's foot and pushes herself into the air and flips over Joey, landing on his tail. He shakes his tail to get her off but soon Avani runs up Joey's back and delivers her knee to the back of his head, knocking him out cold.
"Wow, that was-amazing!" Julien says.
"That? That was nothing;" Avani says.
"How can you fight like that?" Julien asks.
"I taught myself how to fight; why? Do you not like it?" Avani asks nervously.
"No, I love it. I think you'd make the perfect bodyguard for me." Julien says.
"Really?" Avani asks.
"Indeed," Julien says.
"Alright, let's head back to the habitat before kangy boy wakes up." Avani says.
Julien agrees and the two leave the habitat laughing.
