Celeste used to be a normal teenage girl. Same old problems, same old story. Then she discovered her family legacy. The oldest child, of an oldest child, of an oldest child is to become a slayer. And not just any old slayer. The Slayer. The Slayer who not only slayed Vampyres, but also slayed other Paranormal creatures (Werewolves, Witches, Warlock, Sirens, etc., etc.). She was one of the two to be born. The other is her soulmate. And that's not even the worst thing to come.

Chapter 1

Normal

I ran down the musty Hell Hole of an alleyway. I had never been so scared in my life. Nothing compared to the monster I had taunted, the one who wanted me, the one who was going to kill me. I didn't want to die. Suddenly,... a pain as hot as flames, as hot as I imagined Hell to be, shot up from my neck throughout my body. The painwas uncomparable, irriplaceable, deadly. Then, as suddenly as it had begun, it ended. And was replaced by an undescribable cold. I couldn't hold it any longer. I had to let it out. Iwailed the loudest wail I could muster.
That distracted the monster for a second. In that spit second it was distracted, I struck. I spun around as fast as a Slayer of my kind could and roundhouse kicked the monster. It fell onto the alleyway ground as I pulled my stake from my bag. It was beautifully carved cherrywood coated with pure silver. The most beautiful stake ever made for a Slayer. Just for me.
I crept up on the fallen thing. Once I was upon the monster, I positioned myself for the kill. Then, the voice stopped me.
" Celeste, do not do it." The voice was tantelizing, intoxicating. I wanted to fall into it and die. " You are not ment to kill this one. You are not ment to, my sweet." I swivled around, looking for the speaker of this wonderful voice.
Then, sense came flooding back to me. The monster was getting up and preparing to strike again. Quickly, I turned and made the death blow. My stake landed right below the bottom rib and up into the black, love-less, shriveled heart. It was ment to be killed, no matter what the lustful voice said.
The Vampyre fell back to the ground coughing and spluttering up its own blood. It would no longer kill another innocent soul. It woul no longer be alive (if that's even what you would call its inhuman existance) to haunt an innocent. Ever.
I turned and retrieved my bag from the alleyway ground with a smirk playing on my lips. I had made my one-hundredth kill. I had touched my small goal. Now, just to complete my bigger goal.
To destroy the rest of these monsters that killed my family. The ones who ruined my life and destroyed the only good thing in my life. The only normal thing in my life.
I started jogging away from the monster dissolving into nothingness. They always do that after I kill them. No one has a name for what they are doing when they do that. I call it molting, though.
My phone suddenly started playing "Quitter" By: The Toadies.
I hurridly grabbed it from my pocket and slide it open. It was a text from Marcus.
"Hey. Have you completed the
mission yet, Celeste?"
Why does he constantly pester me about that, I thought. I always report back to him and the Council after mission is completed. Oh, well.
I start running and am soon Flitting, something that only I, and unfourtunately Vampyres too, can do. It helps when I they run before I kill them. And when Marcus want me to hurry and get to the Council. Soon I will find my Soulmate and I won't be the only one who can do this anymore, I thought.
Sometimes I just wish I was a normal teenager like I used to be.
