Next Thing We Know

Once upon a time there was a girl, in this place,
Who wore ribbons in her hair,and clothes with lace,
Her eyes were diamonds, her hair like fire,
Her mind could wind and wind, never to tire.

She grazed the fields in her pretty sundress,
She ran and played with her hair a mess,
She is free as a bird, free a she sings,
About the wonders of life, and such happy things.

The men, they watched her, andwanted her too,
But she loved she loved the man with the eyes of blue.
She gazed and watched for everyone to see,
And everyone knew, except fo he.

The man she loved, he loved another,
And wasn't aware of how she'd suffer.

The girl he loved, her hair was brown,
She'd pile it on her head in a beautiful crown,
The woman he loved was not the smartest of girls,
She wore with her clothes the most elegant of pearls.

May was the name of the girl with diamond eyes,
Britta was the name of the girl we dispize.

But now...
Next thing we know,
May can't take it so...
Next thing we know,
There's blood in the snow,
The next thing we know,
Britta's a widow,
The next thing we know,
May's reached a new low,
Next thing we know,
She put's on one last show,
Next thing we know,
Britta's out the window.

And that's the last we knew,
Until May was gone too.
