Michael Bunt
Michael Bunt is a normal teenager. He goes to school every day, eats, sleeps, does everything a normal person would... or does he?
Chapter 1
Faceless
Michael Bunt woke up on Tuesday morning like he did every other day. He got out of bed, changed into his school clothes, and went to eat some breakfast. He had some soggy cereal like he did every day, drank some orange juice, grabbed his backpack, and went out the door before anybody else in the house even woke up. He started walking to the bus stop and saw his best friend Logan. Logan waved his arm up waiting for a high-five from Mike. "Hey," he said.
"Sup?" Mike said.
"Nothing. Hey, did you do the science homework?"
"Yeah, why?"
"What did you get for number 3?"
"I dunno, let me check," Mike said reaching into his backpack for his science homework, but he didn't find it. "Oh no!" he said, "I forgot my science homework!"
"Well just run home and get it! You have plenty of time!" Logan said.
"Okay, be right back!" Michael Bunt said running towards his house.
When he reached his big yellow house on his lonely dead-end street he ran up to the back door and opened it. He stepped into the kitchen and stopped; he was sure he heard voices in the other room. Voices he didn't recognize. He took his iPhone out of his pocket and loaded the "Wi-Fi Cam" app. The Bunts had secret cameras hidden in every room of their house (except the bedrooms and the bathroom, or course). From there, he tapped the "Living Room" button. When the camera loaded, he sighed a sigh of relief. There were people sitting on the couch talking to his parents. His mom had clients over all the time. Michael automatically assumed they were buying a house from them. They were in black suits and holding briefcases, and they were wearing dark sunglasses. Mike zoomed in on them, the hi-definition cameras revealing... (Michael almost screamed) they had no faces! They just had openings for mouths which were seemed to be talking some kind of language Mike had never heard before. He forgot all about his science homework. He locked his iPhone and put it in his pocket, but almost as soon as he did that, it bleeped notifying him of a text. He took it out of his pocket and read the text message that said "Logan: The bus is here!"
As he was sprinting to the bus stop, he got another text. Still running, he took out his phone and read the text: "Mom: Can you come home?", then he stopped running and got another: "Mom: I called the school, you're excused." He texted back: I'll be right there.", and then texted to Logan "Not going to school, sorry." This was crazy. He went back to his "Wi-Fi Cam" and back to his living room. The creatures were still there, but his parents were nowhere in the room. He quickly scrolled through all the rooms in his house, but they weren't in any of the rooms. They must be in their bedroom, he thought, where there are no cameras. Then his phone rung, and he was surprised to find it was his girlfriend, Morgan. He picked up, and before he got the chance to speak, she said "Where are you? Are you sick? You're almost always on time!"
"I'm fine," Mike said, "I'm..." Mike was wondering what to say.
"That's all I need to here. If you're fine I'm fine!"
I have the perfect girlfriend, he thought.
"I can't come to school today, okay? Please don't ask why." Mike said.
"Alright," Morgan said, "See you later."
Mike hung up.
He grabbed his backpack and started running in the opposite direction he was before, towards his house. This was the third time today he'd seen his house before 9 O' Clock. He was careful to duck under all the windows, but then he remembered there were cameras all around the property and everyone in his family (with an iPhone) had the "Wi-Fi Cam" app. Still, he stayed under the windows and headed to the back door. He peeked in the windows and checked the "Living Room Cam" one last time before going in. He didn't hear anything, so he walked deeper into the house. Up the stairs, then turned right into his parents room where he heard crying. He turned on the "Voice Recording" app and enabled recording (and put it in his pocket, of course) before he walked in, and he was very surprised to see what he did.
There were at least ten of them surrounding the bed, each holding what looked like an iPhone, identical to his. They were all speaking simultaneously in a weird language that was mostly comprised of hisses and growls. His parents were lying on the bed, asleep. He couldn't help screaming. They grabbed him, lied him down with his parents, and continued hissing and growling. He immediately fell asleep.
