Would you ever bet your life over money?
Chapter 1
Would you ever bet your life over money?
“Hey, Fred!” Alex begin to ramble about ghost asking me if I believe any. “Nope, not till I see proof that they existence.” I told him with a firm voice. “then if you don’t believe ghost would you like to bet 20 bucks to go in to this house taking three pictures of each room and who ever runs out or gets scared out well be the person who owes the winner money, but you have to stay in at less till day light.” “Make it fifty and I’ll be there.” “what is it with you and money?” he asked. I smiled wickedly at him. “Deal.” he told me. We both looked over to the house even though before he arrived I was already staring at it having sudden flashes of what might happen in the house. I shook those thoughts out of my head. “It looks to be about 200 years old.” I mumbled to my self still spacing off while looking at the house with cracked windows a squeaky door being blown by the wind slowly opening and slowly shutting it. “Well meet back here tomorrow so get ready to be frighten out of your pants.” Alex said with a small smile. “What ever man, you’ll be the one to wet your self.” I told him as I glance over to him with my right eye. Alex chuckled a little. “Well see about that.” he turn the other way to head home. “oh and one more thing bring your camera.” he told me then ran off. I didn’t move I just stared at the so called “haunted house.” I feel the breeze from the wind blow right through my white t-shirt. Making my chains on my pants make noises like some one playing with them. “I better get ready to prove that theirs no such thing as ghost and show Alex that theirs nothing to be scared over a dead house.” I mumbled to my self. “But I will get that fifty dollars one way or another.” I thought with an evil grin. I looked away from the house and looked over towards mine since I live right next to the dead house.
I wondered over to my house. I slowly open the door peaking through to see if theirs any one home. “Phew.” I sigh in relief then I open the door, the door made a squeaky sound as I opened it. “Fred!!!” I heard my mom yell from the kitchen. I closed my eyes for a split second and took a deep breath then walked in closing the door caustically behind me. It took me about a few foot steps to get to the kitchen from the front door. “Yes?” I asked her. “Do you know how late it is young man?” “Um… is that a rhetorical question?” I put a question on her question. “don’t try to be a wise guy!” she snapped at me. “You know what if some thing were to happen to you?” she asked. “Mom don’t worry nothings going happen.” “You need to call if you were going to be late.” she told me. “ya-ya I got it.” “I don’t think you do.” she told me. “Ok-ok I’m sorry.” I apologize hoping it’ll end the conversation. “This is your last warning.” she told me. I nodded as I was about to leave. “Oh mom, I for got to asked if its ok if I sleep over at Oliver’s?” “Fine, dose his parents know?” “Yes, and its tomorrow.” “Ok, do what ever.” I left the kitchen walked through the living room to see stairs leading up. I walked up the stairs. “My bed room light is on.” I mumbled. My room is like the first room you see once you arrived at the top of the stair case. I walked over to my bed room door opening it to see a huge mess of papers on the floor and crayons markings on my rough dark blue wall. I looked down to see my younger sister. “Breanne, what did you do?” I asked her looking at all of the crayon markings a stuff all scattered every where on the floor. “Breanne get out!” I yelled at her. “hehe.” she giggled as she skipped right out of my room. I quickly ran back and froth through my room cleaning up every thing. I ran to the bathroom that’s down the hall way, grabbed a bucket with a wash cloth and almost for got about filling it up with warm water and soup. I ran back down to my room it took me an hour to clean my walls. After words I dump the soupy water out side my window on some of the flowers in the back yard. I yawned then jumped on my bed face down in to my pillow, then I rolled over on my side. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
I woke up the next morning to hear birds chirping right out side my window. I rushed out of bed jumped over to my dresser to grab a camera and I hurried to get dress. I open my closet that’s right next to my dresser. I grabbed my black pack with no fancy designs on it. I shoved my camera in the bag. What else do I need? I thought looking around my room like I’m confuse on where to go. “I should go get some extra film just in case. I open the back of my camera to see if their were still film and there is. Since I’m not going to sleep all night I’m not even going to bother for my sleeping bag. I ran down stairs to the bread box to find film on it in plan sight. “Since I’m already I guess I’ll watch some television.”
night fall finally came and I’m ready to win some money and prove Alex wrong. I turn off the T.V and walked out the front door carrying my bag with my camera and a few candy bars. “Man I really didn’t think this through if I was taking so little things with me I wouldn’t have brought my bag. I thought as I close the door behind me. I walked over to the so called “Hunted house” to see Alex waiting my the fence that looks like it’s meant for an entrance for grave yard. “about time you showed up.” Alex looked over at me. “sorry I almost lost track of time.” “or your so scared that you wet your self and you had to change your pants.” he smiled at me and began to laugh. “Nope just lost track of time.” I told him in a calm voice. “Man, you always try to make your self sound cool.” “I don’t make my self sound like any thing.” I told him with a small smirk. “Hey, Fred.” I looked over to see another kid around my age name Oliver. “Oliver what are you doing here I told my mom that I’m sleeping over at your place.” “I know my older bro has us covered.” he winked at us. “I asked him to be the watch out for who ever leaves earlier.” “fine by me.” I said as I looked back at the creepy looking house. “Ready any time.” I told him as I open the creepy fence. “Oh Oliver this is for you.” I throw him a dark chocolate candy bar. “Thanks.” he responded as he caught it under hand. I nodded. “Lets take pictures of the out side of it first.” I told him. We both walked in, the gates unlock so sneaking in was the easy part. I took out my cam and begin to take pictures like crazy circling the house same for Alex. It took us about one minute to take the pictures of the yard and the house it self. “Now lets head in.” I said as I am the first one to step on to the front porch. I reached for the door and touched it when I did it quickly twisted opening the door wide open where you can see almost every thing in the house. “weird.” I mumbled to my self looking inside. “wha- what is?” “It’s nothing.” I lied. It’s probably my Imagination. I thought going in first. Alex went in next. The door slammed behind us scaring Alex. I looked back to see the door closed. Alex ran at it trying to open it. “Damn it, its locked.” Alex said aloud. “figured some thing like this would happen.” I looked up to some creepy looking stairs that look like they might break if you step one foot on them. “Ok I’ll take the upper you take the lower.” “May be we should stick together.” “What? No, well cover more ground this way after were both done well switch off.” I told him. Slam! “Huh… what’s that?” Alex asked. Slam! “wait here I’ll check it out oh and here’s your little treat.” I throw him a dark charlotte Hershey bar same one I gave Oliver. He caught it with his right hand out to the side. “Wait, what if this is some kind of a trick?” he asked. “What do you mean?” I looked at him all confused as I was about to walk over to the stairs. “This is like in one of my scary movies I’ve watched. Their were three teens about our age in some kind of a hunted house. Two of the teens stuck together didn’t leave the each others sight. The girl was the one to distance her self from the group and set traps in the house so that the to couple would die and it worked to on her third try.” “Dude you cant be serious? How many times do I have to tell you real life is nothing like a movie.” “Fine, what ever man, but I don’t trust you.” He told me. “What ever, just stay.” He looked the other way. I walked up the stairs making a creaking sound with every step I took. I found the slamming door that’s way down the hall way. I moved towards that door. It slam shut and I was a few feet away from it my hand almost touched the door knob. “Ahh!” I heard a scream I ran down the stairs breaking the last stair step. “Alex where are you!” I yelled making an echo through out the house. I heard a small splash. I looked down to see a puddle of red liquid. Muhahahaha! I heard a laugh that yelled it echoed through out the house just like mine did. “Come out and tell me where Alex is?!?!” “He’s no longer a part of your world.” “What do you mean, come say that to my face!” I snapped. Grayish fog appeared in front of me. With in seconds some one form out of the fog. Before my eyes. Looks like he’s shape shifting. I thought just staring at it. When it was done forming the person who looks just like me appeared from the fog. “Who are you?” I asked him. He didn’t answered just stared at my dark blue scared eyes while I looked back in to his dark blue calm eyes. “For some one who doesn’t believe ghost your sure scared.” He told me with an evil grin. “What did you mean that Alex is not a part of this world.” “Yes the one you call Alex is dead.” “You’re a liar!” I snapped. “The small puddle of red goo is your friends blood and your almost stepping in it.” I looked down to the ground for a split second to then see his blood an evaporated. I stared back at him. “See this hour glass this is your remaining life force.” “What are you talking about?” I asked him. An hour glass with a few grains of light blue sand left at the top appeared in his hand. “Once you stepped foot into this house you life is mine to have.” after I sow the last grain of sand drop down to the bottom of the hour glass my throat closed and I couldn’t breath. I gripped my neck like I’m chocking my self. “Now I’ll use your body and mind to gain more power.” He placed his hand on my head. “One more thing your going straight to hell.” “Wha- what?” I gagged forcing my self to speak. “Hmm… I didn’t know some ones who’s about to die can still speak. You must have a strong will to live.” I growled at him. Every thing started to go blurry like the vision I get when I first wake up. He let go of my head. I fell forward face first in to the ground. I could no longer move I lifted my head so I could see myself for one last time before I… my thought got cut off by blood pouring out of my mouth. “This is exactly how your friend died. It seems longer when you dying, doesn’t it?” I couldn’t respond back. “so far it hasn’t even been one second on earth. earth? I thought “yes time is also different in this house.” I almost lost dropped my head, but I quickly caught my self I then looked over to him. To at less say one last thing to him face to face. “Yu-you bastard.” I dropped my head into my own puddle of blood dead. “Your mine now.” he touched the dead corpse he started to absorb it with his right hand sucking every thing out. The only thing left behind was a puddle of blood that soon disappeared. “What am I doing out here?” Oliver asked him self “Why on earth am I standing out side this creepy house? I better hurry home.” Oliver ran off in to the moon lit night. “Look as if every on has forgotten about them. Then a slam of the front door got all the dogs in the nab hood barking so loud that the ghosts in the house howl along with them.
