Chapter 1

Only time...for now....

Life as I knew it, was dull and boring, but my family was happy. No death was involved, not even blood. But there was fights. My mother told me of how my father was not made out of love, but out of the devil's hate. I was then taken away from my father after he hit my sister, Teresa, and almost killed me. We had to moved across the country, until we reached Central America, the land of my ancestors and my mother. We moved away when I was five, but death followed us. We reached the home of my mother's family, just on one of the islands of the Bahamas, when I was only five, my dear sister six, and my hollowed mother 23. Just that year, we received word from the United States that my father was found, and executed on June 5, my mother's birthday. She weeped, for she never wanted to be the cause of death, not even her ex-husband's. For one month she was like this, then she went back to life, as I prayed she would. My mother's family's home was my sister and I's play ground, always a secret hide way that not one of the family member's knew. One year later, on June 16, my mother was found dead. Two puncture holes were in her neck, the holes of vampire's teeth. Only my sister and I knew what happened. She was killed by us for two reasons...(1) she knew that one day we would need to feed on living blood, so she gave up hers, and (2) she believed she didn't need to live for the crimes she believed she committed, so she talked us into drinking her blood, and killing her. My sister and I lived with the family until she was ten, and I nine. We looked like beautiful angels fallen from heaven everyday, for we were vampires, the family thought it best if we were back in the states, so this was the year of two thousand and nine, when I have now turned thirteen. January 12 was when my sister and I were born, both at the same time. Impossible? Well we are the living proof, I guess. We have been forced to live in the smallest town in Colorado, with no one to watch over us, our home being paid for, and we each receive one hundred thousand dollars to buy what we might need that month. We don't go to school, for we each teach each other what to learn. Teresa taught Math, Literacy, Science, P.E., and reading. I taught Social Studies, Reading, Art, Choir, and Computers and Video Games. We have taken care of ourselves for the past three and a half years, yearning to get to know the outside world a little more each day. Only I have the contact to the outside world, thru my friend, Abby. She is more of a partner who hangs out with me and takes me to eat and all. Yes, for a vampire like me, I can eat human food, for we are half vampire, but still have to yearning of blood, but much less. Abby found out what my sister and I was two years ago, when I stayed the night at her house with her boyfriend. His name was Joe, and he was cool. That night, as I always do, I sneaked my cell phone out, and texted my sister that she could come over and get the blood she needed to stop the thirst of hers. I wanted to get a head start before my sister got there, so I snuck into their bedroom.Abby and Joe share the same house and bedroom, because they love each other to not let go of them at night. I opened the door, but slowly, just in case it made a creak enough for one of them to wake up. Thanking anyone that the door didn't creak, I silently walked over to the bed. It was a full size bed, with Abby sleeping at the end, and Joe sleeping next to the wall, thank goodness. I carefully slipped right up to the sleeping victim, I moved the hair away from the neck. Abby's back was facing towards Joe, so it looked as if she was looking at me, kinda creepy. I then sat on my knees, observing how she slept. She would shift every twenty minutes, and sight every fifteen, but she didn't move her position. I was then ready to feed. You know how you get that funny feeling that you are starving and can't wait to get to lunch, that was what my throat was feeling like. Like I couldn't hold back my hunger, so I fed myself. I lifted myself off the floor about three inches, and put my mouth at the neck. I then bit into the the neck, and explosions of tastes filled my mouth, but the strongest taste tasted like something warm, like hot chocolate, going down my throat. I was like that for one minute, until an unwanted party guest woke up. Joe started to yawn and looked over at Abby. He then gave out a startled cry and turned on the light switch. The room was then bright, a little too bright for me to see. It took a couple of seconds, then my eyes adjusted to the light, and was now looking at the two party guests who was awake, and looking at me like an alien. I then sighed. Now I'm going to have to tell them... I got up and swayed a little bit, until my legs were ready for me to stand on them again. I looked over to Abby and Joe again. They looked like frightened rabbits, hearts about to burst from beating so fast. I sighed again.
"Abby, Joe, you have this all wrong. Do you mind letting me explain?" They looked kinda pale, so I did the not so smart thing. I turned around, not facing them, as if I was going to walk out the door, when in a split second, I turned and snarled at them, showing my vampire teeth. They both screamed a little, and then quieted down. They didn't look pale anymore.
"Now that I have your attention, can I explain?" They both seemed to be nodding,"Good! Now, you are thinking that I was trying to kill Abby, and drain her blood, well no. We need only a little blood to quiet the thirst of our vampirism. We only feed 2/20ths of the human's blood, to quiet the thirst, and we have never killed anyone by draining their blood. I had to feed on Abby because I can only drink her blood, and my sister is going to get sick if she doesn't have my blood to drink because it's filled with human blood. She can't go and hunt like I can, because she has to take care of us. Don't you get it now?" I looked at Abby, pleading for her to believe me. I could see the fear lesson in both their eyes, and become understanding. Abby tried to sit up straight and sound confident, but vampire's could sense the fear a mile away.
"Tay, as long as you don't drain our blood, you can drink, but there have to be rules, and you MUST follow them, okay?"
I gave her the thumbs up sign. She then continued, "But why didn't you tell us, ME?!" Now she asked the question I was trying to avoid.
" Well, Teresa and I couldn't trust you, there was no way until we were friends for two and a half years, but now you know and at the right time. Don't worry, the holes are gone, it's just they don't go away if you're dead. Now, Tiffany is on her way over and why not go to sleep, and pretend this never happened." I smiled, hoping to get away, and still I thank anyone, they decided I was right. We went to sleep and I called Teresa to go back home and get some rest for tomorrow, and for the next year... oh but don't worry, that was just the beginning.
