Who On Earth Is Shawty?

I have heard so many R&B and Rap songs with a girl called 'Shawty' or 'Shawdin' (or something of the sort) in them. I can probably name about ten, but I won't bother wasting characters here.

Anyway, all I wanna know is... Who on Earth is she? If anyone can tell me, that'll be great, but since this is a survey, I'll just ask for your opinions on who she is.
