The Truth of Ballet
Poem sort of for En Pointe. This is the result of me getting bored in class and having trouble thinking about things other than my stories.
Chapter 1
The Truth of Ballet
1,2,3 Pirouette
And Revele.
Now a Grand Jette.
Be sure to spot,
Remember to rise En Pointe;
These things you've surely forgot.
Bend until you're about to break,
Keep a smile on your face;
All for beauty's sake.
Spend hours in front of the mirror,
At the barre...
Until pain is the least to fear.
Underneath the satin of the shoes,
Lies a secret,
That's hardly new news.
You hide it all
Blisters, fractures and sprains
Just to get a curtain call.
So you mask the pain
Don't shed a tear
And pray your efforts weren't in vain.
This is a dancer's life
Though the epitome of beauty
It is filled with strife.
And Revele.
Now a Grand Jette.
Be sure to spot,
Remember to rise En Pointe;
These things you've surely forgot.
Bend until you're about to break,
Keep a smile on your face;
All for beauty's sake.
Spend hours in front of the mirror,
At the barre...
Until pain is the least to fear.
Underneath the satin of the shoes,
Lies a secret,
That's hardly new news.
You hide it all
Blisters, fractures and sprains
Just to get a curtain call.
So you mask the pain
Don't shed a tear
And pray your efforts weren't in vain.
This is a dancer's life
Though the epitome of beauty
It is filled with strife.

Love this, and its so true.....
it's soooo dang true i should no that and i have to mask the pain this weekend
this is so true i just started pointe so i don't have blisters yet but i know its coming
so true! ballet is glorified. nobody knows the pain we put ourselves through. but we do it because we love to dance. i mean seriously, if ballet were easy, we would call it foot ball.
