The Real Deal
Chapter 1
Open Up, Cassidy
I mope around the table with my shoulders slumped and sagged like a grandma with poor poise, and try my best to hold myself up with one hand across the table. I continued to sigh.
"Mom I don't want to go to school," I complained with a red hot face and misty eyes. "Nobody likes me there, Mom. I'm just so different from everyone else and I just don't fit in." Mom scratched her achy forearm.
"Now don't be rediculous, Cassidy," Mom ecknowledged me with one arm draped around my shoulders. "You just haven't opened up to them yet. Look, I moved to a new school once, and, nobody got along with me at first. But, later on, I started epressing myself and speaking to people and they began to appreciate my friendship. You see, Cassidy, they'll open up to you when you open up to them. It'll all work out fine in the end, it always does." Mom kissed my forehead and she drove me to school, feeling accomplished with pride, she backed out of the driveway onto Maine Street. Meanwhile, Mom's words crammed and edged into my brain, hardly leaving enough room for education.
