Crystal Rose Lake
This is a story I have been doing at home and thought I'd publish on here.
It's a fantasy about a girl who wakes in a forest and then explores the strange, wonderful and unique world to find her true identity, but not everything is as brilliant as it seems in the magical world in which she finds herself.
Chapter 1
She Awakes...
Deep in the secluded forests of Tallay, surrounded by hazardous mountains with their tips roofed in snow, a slender girl laid motionless on a dirt floor that was blanketed with copper coloured leaves.
The slender girl looked peaceful in her stillness; her flame red hair caressing her oval face, the hair swaying slightly with each gust of wind, like a flag flowing defiantly in the sky. A single snowflake slowly floated down from the giant expanse of white sky, which spread to the mountains and further than the human eye could see. The snowflake continued on it's downwards journey, slightly glinting when the sun managed to break through the dense clouds for several seconds. It finally came to rest on the flushed cheek of the girl, and even though a minute flake of snow could not possibly rouse anyone, especially in such a deep slumber, the girl seemed to have felt the pin prick of cold settle on her face and her eyes instantly fluttered open revealing irises of a startling blue, not unfamiliar to a pure, frozen lake.
With a sudden intake of frost filled air, the pale girl sat up, she kept her numb legs in the same position they had been in while sleeping for fear of immense pain.
The frosty air stung the girls lungs, like tiny daggers of ice piercing her insides and to make things worse, the snow was coming down rapidly now, despite being gentle.
She could not remember anything. Her name, her age, where she was from or where she was… All she knew was that she was clearly alone in a darkening forest wearing an extensive, elegant deep red dress, slightly darker than her burning red hair and looked flawlessly placed against her white skin and bronze tinted leaves.
The girl softly moved her petite left hand to support some of her weight but she then felt her hand brush against a velvety material. She cast her frosty eyes downwards to look at what her hand had come across. It was a stylish, black velvet fitted jacket and she was puzzled to how she had not seen it laying next to her, but due to her current state of mind she dismissed the query. She daintily lifted the jacket and placed it on top of her still legs and brushed it over, picking the crumpled, dried out leaves from the expensive garment. She turned the jacket over and over in her hands, just in case there was some concealed item revealing her identity. The only thing on the jacket was a label, presumably the name of the make, which was 'Crystal Rose Lake'. The tired girl then decided to name herself Crystal for the time being until her memory returned; if it ever would.
