Chapter 1

Bonfire!!!

"What's so funny?" my mom asked from in the kitchen.
"Oh, just messing with some guy's head," I said smirking to myself.
"We've been here one day and you're already stealing the hearts of the boys here. What am I going to do with you Ronnie?" she asked laughing.
I smiled.
I had just got comfortable on the couch and remembered a very important piece of infromation I didn't know.
"Mum!" I yelled from the living room.
"Yeah?" she called back.
"Do you know where they usually have the bonfires?"
"No honey, but you should go next door and ask the Black's. They'd probably know."
"Okay".
"Honey?" she called as I was halfway up the stairs.
"Mhm?"
"Oh Lord, I don't want you to think I don't trust you, but just be back before sunrise."
I laughed and said, "Of course, no problem!"
When I got to my room, I took one look out my window at the beautiful ocean before taking a shower.
I slipped into my favorite pair of jean shorts. I pulled on an awesome tank top, and cute decks. Yes, the shorts were short shortst: to show off my toned legs and my little apple bottom. Yes, the shirt showed off my D-cup chest. I couldn't help it! After blow drying my hair, I decided to leave it down and just throw on som eyeliner and lipgloss.
I grabbed my Abbey Dawn hoodie that matched my outfit, slid my iPhone into my back pocket, and grabbed my keys. One last glance in the mirror and I decided I was as ready as I'll ever be.
I knocked on the front door of the Black's. Moments later a man in a wheel chair opened up the door.
"Hi. I'm Ronnie Davis. My mother and I just moved in next door."
"Ah. Its nice to meet you! I'm Billy Black. Please come in!"
"Thank you Mr. Black," I said smiling.
"Please call me Billy and make yourself comfortable.," he said returning the smile.
I sat on the counter while Billy got me a glass of water. Just when I stood up to walk out with Billy, two boys came around the corner. "How many amazingly hot shirtless guys are in La Push?' I thought to myself.
"Whoa Billy! Who is this?" the short one said eying me up and down.
"Shut up Quil!" the taller one said.
"This is Ronnie. She just moved in next door with her mother," Billy explained.
"I'm Embry. and this is Quil" the taller one said.
"Hey," I said while flipping my hair and smiling.
"Oh Billy! I almost forgot. Some guy named Paul invited me to a bonfire tonight." Quil and Embry groaned at the name and walked out the front door.
"Don't mind them. They're just being boys. I'll take you to the bonfire if you want. You can meet my son, Jacob."
"Thanks, and that would great." I said smiling. Billy and I walked, well Billy wheeled, to First Beach. I heard the laughter of boys and saw the glowing embers of a fresh fire. I loved it. It felt right to be there. I looked around and noticed I was the only girl.I guees I had a worried expression on my face because Billy assured me that the girls were coming later.
"Before the boys take you away, which I'm sure they will," Billy began, "I just wanted you to know that you are always welcomed in the Black home."
I smiled, and as if on que, I saw Mr. Cocky Paul and a bunch of other guys walking up to me.
"Just couldn't stay away huh, babe?" Paul said with a smug look on his face.
"Yeah, thats it. I love you Paul! Take me now, OH GOD PAUL!" I shouted in a sarcastic tone. The smile left Paul's face while the other boys, including Embry and Quil, just laughed. Paul stepped froward pressing himself against me. I held my ground and looked away.
"Mmm, keep that phrase babe. One of these nights you'll be screaming it." I pushed him back and slapped him. All the boys looked shocked. "Don't keep that mark on your face. I have a feeling you'll need another one soon." I retorted with a devilish look on my face. I walked past him and linked arms with Embry.
"Come on Embry lets go by the fire." He just smiled shyly and walked me over. Despite the utter hatred I had for Paul, I still felt attracted to him. Ugh. I need therapy.
"Ah! Veronica!" Billy said as I walked up with Embry.
I had my hood up and my bangs were covering my eyes.
"Hey Billy!" I said smiling. I let go of Embry to go give him a hug.
"This is my son Jacob. Jacob, this is Veronica, our new neighbor."
Jacob looked up at me, and I immediatly got lost in his hazel eyes. They were so warm and humble. He smiled at me and I felt dazzled. I wondered if he felt the same way.
