OKAY there is a REASON that "Christ" is in the word "Christmas" and it isn't because a bunch of people found it on some stone tablet from the Pagans, or something. The Catholics had a special Mass on Xmas day, and it was called Christ's Mass. Over time (like with All Hallow's Eve), it became one word: Christmas.
So chill using that statement.
And the real reason we have christmas is because of the Winter Solstice, and the so-called "Pagan" celebrations. Christians just incorporated it into their system of holidays. Scholars believe that 'Jesus' was actually born late spring/early summer, since it would have been too cold at the time, even in the desert-y area they lived in, and a stupid census that required people to go to the home of their birth (which never happened) would not have happened in the worst part of the year for travel.
