TAKE ME BACK
HI! This is a Nick Jonas love story. New segment every Wednesday! :)
Chapter 1
On the Roof ~ Part 1
I was here. I departed my car and looked up at the building. I locked my car. I smiled weakly to the boys talking in the corner of the playground as I walked up to my new school. Everything here was so... well new and horrible. I made my way to the office to receive my timetable. Even though I managed to get lost many times I got there in ten minutes. I smiled to the lady behind the old fashioned wooden desk and asked for my schedule. She glowered at me and grudgingly handed over a scruffy piece of paper. I walked away as fast as I could, feeling her eyes glare at me as I left the tiny box room.
I entered the classroom and silently slipped my bag on the ground and sat down at the chair furthest away from the teacher’s desk. I watched all the students settle down as the teacher finally arrived. She opened up the registrar.
“Morning class, I hope you have all had a good Christmas and a happy new year for good progress and results. I’m very happy to see you all again well and content. If you’ve already switched off you won’t know about a new student.” I looked up and saw the dozy heads suddenly become more interested. Great. “Rosalie White please come up here and say a few words.” I froze but by now everyone’s heads had clicked to look at me. I slowly rose from my seat and half smiled. However she hand gestured me to the front so I had to take the slowest seconds of my life stumbling forwards past all those faces glaring at me.
“Hi,” I paused, “It’s Milly.” I mumbled and made my way back to my seat but the teachers long spidery like claws clutched onto my shoulders pulling me back.
“So is anyone going to help her round?” she asked the class and surprisingly many hands ascended into the air. “Okay Jessica.” And Jessica grabbed her bag and moved to the seat next to me. The squirmy boy sitting there leapt away to the newly vacant seat.
Jessica had long curly ginger hair tied up into a loose ponytail, was short to medium height and incredibly thin. She was wearing skinny jeans and a slogan top. She beamed at me whilst giving me my timetable. My lips twitched back. I took the neater copy of the timetable even though I’d still got the crunched up one somewhere in my bag.
Everywhere I went that day I was followed by a group of people trying to be cool around me. There was one person who wasn’t crowding me, Nick. I did, though, see him looking at me angry many times during lessons.
At lunch I was bombarded by people trying to sit next to me. I simply quietly ate my lunch and slipped away when the boys starting arguing at each other. I went to the library thinking how this school was mad. I’d never been anywhere where so many people liked me, or at least, seemed to like me; I’d always been the odd ball in an overly busy crowded place.
As I entered the magnificent room, I was glad that there was hardly anyone in there.
“Hello, I’m Nick,” said a voice behind me. I spun around on my heels and looked straight into those deep brown eyes and wished I didn’t. “Hey. Did you follow me or something?” I asked. He chuckled.
“No, I was over there,” he pointed to the corner of the library, “I didn’t get a chance to talk or see you earlier,” he clearly said. I looked up at him my eyes scanning him. I saw his brown curly hair, muscular arms and an amazing wardrobe style. He wore grey skinny jeans and a chequered shirt. We started talking about nothing important, my muscles relaxing. Unfortunately the bell rang and I had to retreat from my hiding place.
“Where were you?” Jessica quizzed when I entered the classroom. I looked around at the clock hanging up on the wall; I’d been with Nick for over half an hour. “You were like there one second then we couldn’t find you anywhere.”
“Sorry, I wanted to check out the library and I guess I didn’t see the time,” I mumbled innocently.
“You spent 37 minutes in the library?” she said with a look that told me she didn’t believe a word I said but I couldn’t answer her accusations since the teacher walked in with half a dozen things in her arms.
“Good afternoon,” she said irritably.
“Afternoon Miss Smith,” the few people who were listening mumbled. Miss Smith stayed a few minutes before hurrying off.
“Do you know anything about Nick?” I asked Jessica once we were on our way to our next lesson.
“Yeah, he’s like one of the hottest people I’ve ever known but you, you’re nothing but they,” she jabbed a finger over to a crowd of screaming guys,” seem to think you are.” She grinned before storming off to her next lesson. So I was left standing there with my bag unpacked wondering why she just left like that and I could of sworn I heard her say ‘nice one’ sarcastically.
The next few days I ‘slipped’ out after lunch and left to the abandoned library where I would meet Nick and talk. He was like my angel; no matter how bad I was feeling after being with Jessica’s mood swings he would always make me feel happy again.
