It's All About Alex
story about a girl ...
Chapter 1
Part 1
"Come back here Alexandra Dixon!" was all I heard running downstairs, grabbing my school bag and slamming the door behind me. I ran for my life. Away from that house, to which I'll have to go back to later on today. I'm not going back there, not until that woman that calls herself my mother is there, with that bastard! Where will go though, I thought to myself, still running.
My mother and Jim have been seeing each other for three months, and he's living with us already. He's been coming onto me ever since he has moved into our house. I told my mother about it this morning while he was still in that bed, but I don't think she believes me. Instead of throwing that pig out of her bed and out of our house, all I got was a slap in the face. It still burns. If dad was still here ...
"Alex!" oh god Not you, I thought to myself. "Is everything ok?" asked Jeremy, "I saw you running like the wind."
I've known Jeremy since we were both toddlers. We were best friends, and so are our fathers ... were. "Umm, yeah, I just thought I was late for school, I had my watch upside down, you see," I told him shoving my wrist in his face.
"... You haven't got a watch on Alex," he said looking at me weird.
"Oh, I don't." I answered looking down on the ground, hiding my eyes with the shame of lying.
"You must be very excited with the last day of school and everything," he said half laughing.
"Must be." I told him still looking down, afraid to look him in the face in case I started crying. I really felt like crying. Jeremy was so nice, and since he hit puberty 6 years ago, his voice was manlier, with a gentle timbre to it that made me feel warm inside. Jeremy was the sort of a guy that made every girl feel special, with his gorgeous smile and his playful eyes.
''Are you sure you’re ok?" he asked again. I could feel his eyes staring at the side of my head.
"Yes Jeremy!" I exclaimed finally looking him in the eyes, trying to smile. "I guess I just didn't sleep right or something, my mood is very weird … so beeewaaare." I told him laughing at myself.
"Ooh ouch, what’s wrong with your face?" he asked puzzled. I looked back him, not understanding what he meant by that, but then I felt the burn of the slap I got just five minutes earlier. "Oh that. Yeah, I ran into my mother's open palm ... thinking I was late," trying to sound funny, while swallowing a lump in my throat that was about to explode within me. I’m pretty sure Jeremy noticed how upset I was and said "Well you should get up on time, or at least take less time trying to look beautiful."
"Trying? Baby I was born beautiful, I just enhance it," I answered back sarcastically.
"Well you should stop that, or I'll probably end marrying you," he said putting his hand over my shoulder to tell me it was ok. I leaned into him, resting my head against his shoulder. We walked like that for a while when he suddenly let go of me, "I had a very weird dream last night!"
"What was it?"
"I dreamt that I was in that melting clock picture by ehh…"
"Salvador Dali,"
"Yeah that one and I was that weird screaming guy in it. I was just walking in that place as the 'Scream' guy but I wasn't actually screaming, I mean I had my mouth opened as if I was screaming, but I wasn't. Oh, it was so weird, I didn't like it. When I realized I wasn't actually screaming, I tried to scream but no sound came out no matter how hard I tried." He told me looking shocked and worried at the same time.
