Dandelions, Dragons, and Everything in Between

A picture perfect memory settled in my mind
as I flew off the coast of California, ready to unwind.
I traveled to the moon and I met an odd man.
He laughed and he smiled. He said his name was Sam.
We slept in a crater and talked about life.
He said he had never really wanted a wife.
He was a strange man, this Sam that I met.
Eventually, we settled on a simple bet.
I would travel with him, and he with me,
but only if I promised to set him free.
So we traded our hearts and exchanged perfect smiles.
The fun would last, for quite a little while.
We floated to Jupiter, where we raced on its rings.
He told me more secrets; he said he had wings!
I told him that that couldn't possibly be true,
so he ran up to me and said he was blue.
I quickly caught on and replied that I was weird,
in fact, I said, I can even grow a beard!
He said that he really wouldn't mind if I could,
he'd stay by my side, right where he stood.
And off we went, slowly flying to mars,
but we just haddd to stop at one of the stars.
And as I stood on its tip, and he held my hand,
I felt as though my heart was made of sand.
He tilted me back and sang the sweetest song.
Then he hugged me so tight that nothing felt wrong.
We floated through space and through empty time.
We laughed at the words that I could make rhyme.
As we landed on the sun, I whispered in his ear,
That he would leave me, was my greatest fear.
Then he held me close and promised he’d stay.
He called off the bet; said he’d never go away.
So we kept each others’ hearts, and exchanged perfect smiles.
And we floated away, for miles and miles.
