Chapter 1

9 Deadly Words

"Ash! Ash! Ash! Ash! Ash!" Ron's pestering voice said from in front of me as we sat in a compartment on the train.

"What Ronald!" I exclaimed as I looked up from the Daily Prophet. I removed my reading glasses to glare at him.

Hermione and Harry burst out laughing. "I was just going to say 'Hi'." He said stupidly. I stood up and went walking down the hall. I put my reading glasses on and opened what I thought was an empty compartment.

I sat down and opened the Daily Prophet back up.

"May I help you?" A voice snapped.

I looked up and saw pug Parkinson sitting next to the Slytherin s^x god himself. "Nope, I'm good. But if I need anything I'll be sure to let you know." I snarled back.

I looked back at the Prophet.

1 September, 1997 -

12 Death Eaters have escaped from Azkaban in the past week, be aware of your surroundings.
Other news, all claims claiming that Voldemort is back are false. He is not back so there is no need to worry.

That's all I read. "Load of rubbish," I snapped as I tossed it aside.

"What Sanders? Are they saying that your friend Scarhead is dead?" Malfoy snapped.

I chuckled softly. "You wish. No, Malfoy," the way I said his name caused him to cringe, "they're saying your precious 'Dark Lord' isn't back." I snapped just as rude.

"Don't you dare talk to him like that!" Parkinson growled.

"What are you going to do about it, Pug-Face? Last time I checked, no one was scared of you. Last time I checked, no one liked you, not even your little boyfriend here. Last time I checked, you were just an ugly h^g that won't do anything to me." I hissed.

She abruptly stood and ran from the compartment crying.

"Nice going Sanders," Malfoy snapped.

"You know it's true, Malfoy." I said.

He stood up to leave but turned and leaned down so that we were face-to-face.

"She might not do anything, but I certainly would." He snapped before leaving.

9 words, simply but deadly, took my breath away.
