The Book

" Hurry up, Nay!" Skylar called over his shoulder. " If we get caught now we won't make it!"
" I'm coming!!!!!" I yelled, pushing my way through the huge crowd exiting the girl's bathroom. When we finally got the the door, the halls were empty. Not a single soul in sight.
Skylar pushed the door open, ignoring creak. Rushing inside, I bumped into him. The door closed behind us by itself.
I have a bad feeling about this, I thought to myself.
Right behind the door was a small winding staircase leading up to a never-used storage room. The room was filled with junk covered with layers of dust. There were broken desks, bookshelves filled with old books, and ancient computers. In a corner, a lumpy purple couch covered in flowery designs blocked the only other door. I turned to look at Skylar.
" Best place to be when skipping class," he grinned, plopping on the couch and pulling a bag of chips out of his jacket pocket.
" Are you sure about this?" I asked, looking around nervously.
" Sure, I do it all the time," he munched on a chip.
" So that's why you're never in class!!" I pulled out my flashlight, shinning it around the dark, gloomy room. I knelt down by a bookshelf scanned the titles for anything to read.
I heard a light snore from the couch as Skylar settled right in. One certain book caught my attention. No title showed on the spine. I pulled it out to see that the only feature on the cover was a faded spiral symbol. It looked ancient, the edges ripped and the pages rumpled and yellow. I glanced at the first page. What I first thought to be strange symbols suddenly shifted and jumped around the page, changing to legible words. As soon as my eyes scanned over the words, they changed again into completely different ones. I began reading.
