Secrets All Around Us (Group Story Version)

"How was social?" I turned toward the voice and saw David leaning against the wall just outside my social studies classroom.

Smiling I replied, "Pretty cool. We are learning about Greek Mythology." I reached forward and ruffled Davy's sandy blond hair playfully.

"You're gonna get it baby girl!" David threatened teasingly and chased me toward my locker.

"No running in the hallways!" A teacher yelled at us and I came to a sudden halt, causing David to bump into me.

I fell forward but before my body connected with the hard floor, David caught me around the waist.

"Clumsy as always." He mumbled and burst out laughing.

I blushed angrily and was about to say something back when Steller turned the corner and saw David holding me close.

"I swear you two should just go out already." Steller tsked, her long brown hair flowing behind her as she walked toward us.

This time David blushed and released me reluctantly.

Or was that just my imagination?

Pushing back my messy light brown curls away from my face, I tried to hide my blush too.

"I knew it." Steller said and laughed.

I rolled my eyes, taking about 7 steps before I was standing in front on my locker.

Slowly, I opened it and someone pushed me, which resulted in me banging my head against the open door.

I sucked in a breathe air, then stuffed my checkered sleeve in my mouth to keep from bursting out in tears of pain.

"Watch it!" David yelled at the kid and the guy turned around to say something but stopped with his mouth wide open.

"Turn around and leave Jackie alone." David threatened and the guy slowly nodded and backed away before bolting away.

Trying to break the tension I said, "He looks like a fish with his mouth wide open like that."

Steller burst out in giggles but David was a bit more hesitant to laugh.

I wonder why, I mused.
