The exchange of eggs for Easter dates back to a springtime custom older than Easter itself in which eggs were given as a symbol of rebirth in many cultures.
some also believe that the custom of egg-giving at Easter is traced back to the Egyptians, where they were symbolizing the resurrection of Christ.
:o I always wondered why we had eggs on Easter!

Easter was named after a fertility goddess called Eastre. The symbols of the goddess were an egg and a hare
