Welcome to the Poem Contest

~~Please consider the following~~


-Make your poem appropriate. It is important for everyone to enjoy poems. Most poems are not mentally scarring for readers.
-Do not make acrostic poems. (The vertical ones with a word for each letter.)
-Please do your best with proper English spelling. Grammar is not required as this is a free verse poem.
-Do your best!

You will be writing a free verse poem. Free verse poems can be in any style, and do not have to flow as rhyming poems do. They can have as many stanzas as desired, and do not require capitalization and punctuation. Be creative with your poem!

These poems will recognize nature, because many people don't see the beauty in it and insist on destruction.
Your poem must describe any animal or plant in its natural environment. It's important to be very detailed! Don't keep your lengths of lines too static, otherwise it can lose the flow of a poem. Try not to be too general and bland, since people enjoy poems that can truly entrance them, visualize them and enjoy them as poems and works of art.

-Include flora/fauna. (This is a very broad requirement. Since your poem will revolve around this organism, it is important to describe them! Whether it is in their habitat, wandering, running, or doing anything, it must include it otherwise your poem can be disqualified.)
-Include a threat to your organism. (Broad as well. Make it sound poetic in any way.)
-No acrostics.
-Free verse poem. Preferably not rhyming, as that is not free verse. Do not consider syllable count or line length.
-As many stanzas as desired.
-Entices reader to the animal or plant.
-Maximum of 5000 characters.

~~How to submit~~
1. Fit your poem into a "message" and send it to me. I will copy and paste it into a chapter. I will keep the author anonymous, so keep track of your poem!
2. If need be, send your poem in more than one message.
3. Include Title and Poem. Does not need tell me what animal/plant it is.
4. Please do not share which poem you wrote! Popularity votes aren't fair, and it's important for readers to vote on which they actually believe to be a winner.
5. Tell me what kind of picture you want to include with your poem. (Optional)
6. Write ONE poem.

~~Selecting Winners~~

1. Once I have all of the poems posted - as many as I receive by the end of the month (June 31st) - readers can then post comments for their favorite.
2. When you comment, only put the Title. If someone has already voted for the poem you wanted to vote for, "Reply" to their comment so that counting is easier.
3. Vote once, please.

GRAND PRIZE:
--- This is up to you, readers! Post a comment for what YOU think the Grand Prize should be for our great poetic talent!

SECOND PRIZE:
--- If you would like, you can design and create characters and settings for a story about whatever you want, and together we can write a Group Story! You can include whomever else you want in the Story. (I write a lot, don't worry. :D)

THIRD PRIZE:
--- Make me change my "Nickname" and "Background" + Color Scheme to whatever you want! Once notified, you can then send me a message and tell me what to do.
