Chapter 1
A Lost Soul
"WAIT DON'T-" The man's scream echoed through the silent night, while a more painful one arose from the other man in front of him. This man was flat on the ground, as a dark figure kicked him into it, where it took seconds for the scream to die out and for the 'thud' of the sound of the man's kicks to fade. The man who had yelled first looked at his unconscious friend then around, not knowing where to turn. He tried lifting his broken leg but while doing so he groaned in pain for the unmerciful man had stepped on it. Through all this commotion, a silvery figure had arisen next to the grave, in the side of the man causing the damage. It was of a little girl. It was easy to make her features because she appeared to glow as bright as the crescent moon in contrast with this dark night. Her big green eyes seemed had no sparkle, and when looking at them you would turn away feeling depressed. Her short brown hair was tied into two pigtails. The man with the broken leg finally managed to get up by using this grave for support and limped through the girl appearing not to take notice of her.
"We're sorry, I mean we didn't think she was anything to you." He said strongly for the man had taken his eyes of him to look at the sad ghost.
"It doesn't matter if she is, you have no rights to be in here."
"Again I apologize." he said giving his back to the man and then limping towards his unconscious friend. "In our respect we won't come here again"
Almost before he had spoken the words the man who had been distracted because of the silver figure, turned to him just as the man was picking up the unconscious body. In a sudden movement he grabbed the man's shoulder where its pressure brought him to his knees making him drop the unconscious body. His hysterical laugh echoed in the graveyard.
"And you think that's going to cover it?" he said inserting more strength into the man's neck until he felt the coldness of his skin before he let go.
The night was now still, and he felt a cold current of wind come against him.
"You didn't have to take it this far," said the quiet voice of the little girl. As the man went two graves behind her, bend over, and reached out to the ground to a few broken silver pieces of glass. He placed them gently on top of this grave.
"It was people like them that led you to be here," he said looking at the girl who now held a tearful smile.
"People must learn to be able to forgive in order to forget and move on."
If that was true then why was it that she was still kept in this world? He turned away from her, deciding to no longer take meaning to what she had said. He proceeded looking nowhere but ahead until finally making a turn on another grave. He stared at it for a couple of seconds before walking on. On the distance he heard the sound of an ambulance coming closer to the area.

"Ichigo, why is there blood on your face? Did you get into another fight? You know what dad said about those things, you could have-"
"it's nothing you need to concern about," he said gently and stroked his sister's light brown hair out of her face before turning his head.
"Karin, dad's not home yet?"
A girl laying on the sofa turned toward him. Unlike the other two who had brown eyes her's were dark gray. Her black hair, like her sister's, was inches above shoulder length. She turned again towards the TV and continued to flip through the channels boringly.
"He checked in a few minutes ago," she replied to him. "said there was an emergency and was helping out in the public hospital."
He nodded at her and fixed his appearance before sitting on the unoccupied seat besides her and watch her flip through the channels.
"Is anyone's life in danger?"
"Yes," she continued in the same casual tone. "He's helping out with the shooting inside one of the buildings."
He stared at her.
"Since when did you grow a sense of humor Karin?"
"I'm telling you the truth Ichigo," she said and changed the channel to the town's news report. In seeing the reporters background he felt that the world had frozen for at least a quarter's minute.
"The cause is still unknown if it was terrorist shooting that occurred at the center of Karakura town. Panic arouses as a mass of explosions continue while people remain trapped inside buildings," The reporter went on.
"What the hell's wrong with you?" He said fighting this impulse to shake her. "Why are telling me this now?"
"Why are so alarmed if it doesn't even concern you?
"Your dad who's one of the victims, and you're just sitting there like if-"
"Like if what? You wanted me to beg for him not to leave? Shootings have occurred around here all year, it isn't such a big deal."
"You act like such a little girl at times. Don't you realize how many them die just for helping out."
"Ichigo," said his sister Yuzu who held tears in her eyes. "We couldn't have stopped him if we we tried. He's aware of how much lives he could save by being there."
He stared them, didn't any of them understand?
"I'll be back in about an hour, don't worry." He said heading for the door.
"Don't act stupid," Karin said to him. "If he wanted us to come he would have told us. He's capable of taking care of himself."
"Stop Ichigo," Yuzu said, following behind him. "We couldn't stand it if something happened to you. Dad would never be able to forgive himself if he knew you got killed because of his fault.
He looked at them for a moment.
"He told me the same thing when mom died, he could never bring himself to blame her death on me."
Speechless they continued to stare as he shut the door behind him, but he knew what to do. His instinct took over making him unable to take notice of the night's coldness. It was foggy but he could make them out in the distance, the red lights of ambulances. He ran faster as the noise of them rang in his ears. Why had it all seemed peaceful then? As he got closer in what seemed like seconds, he could smell the burning of human flesh and hear people screaming in panic. There was another noise he heard, one which he couldn't recognize, it sounded like a low howling.
"Hold it kid," an officer had put his hand in front of him. "What do think your doing?"
Ichigo pushed his hand aside while attempting to move forward but another had gotten hold of him.
"You can't come in here. Where are your parents? How did you come here?"
"What are you, a babysitter?" The first officer said to the second," Go home kid, I told you you're not allowed-"
"Are any of you familiar with doctor Isshin Kurosaki?"
They both looked at each other.
"Is he your father?" asked the second one.
"Just answer the question," Ichigo replied ignorantly.
"If he's a doctor then he's helping out."
His mind was racing. So then he among the ones trapped inside?
"but we don't have the time to comfort you, so move it if you don't want to be in our way."
But just as he had finished speaking this, a loud bang had irrupted from one of the buildings. With this distraction he managed to escape the officers. As he fastened his pace, the fog got thicker he lost sight of them all. He heard the sirens farther away but the howling louder still. Then suddenly it stopped. He looked around where the fog had gotten thinner and saw that he was completely isolated.
"Ichigo," said a sweet voice behind him.
Without looking at her he recognized that voice. The voice he would respond to whether he was dead or alive.
"Mom?" he looked at her beautiful unchanged face. Her eyes were his, and his light orange hair she had, was long and curly.
"Yes, Ichigo it's me."
She was there and yet, why didn't he move. She came towards him.
"You've grown up beautifully Ichigo, and you've done such a good job on taking care of your sisters."
He didn't move as she continued forward.
"You're so brave for coming here." She said even more sickly sweet. "I'm so proud of you. Even though you killed me you all continued to move forward."
No. It was a lie. How could his own sweet mother be blaming him for her death? She put her hand against his cheek. Fear had taken over him, making him unable to move. Her hand was icy cold and she slowly inserted pressure on it.
"Stop," he said so weak that it wasn't recognizable from his own."Your hurting me mom."
Her eyes were no longer brown but a bloody red had taken their place. Her other hand grasped his neck making him suffocate. Then he heard a different voice. A voice that was his. He tried recognizing the words it spoke but they were to hazy for him to grasp. He saw the faces of two frightened girls, what had he said to them?
He was dying. He felt himself going under, falling into complete darkness. The pain was unbearable, every part of him was under pressure. Then, suddenly it stopped. Now he could just feel the lifelike wind as he hit hard ground.
"What were you thinking, coming here by yourself. Did you actually think you had a chance against them?" It was the voice of a girl. He opened his eyes but he could only see a blur. The pressure in his body was gone, but there still remained the pain. He felt a warmth in his chest that rose throughout his body slowly dismissing the pain. He felt the warm touch of two small hands holding his chest down. He made a motion to get up but the strength those hands held him.
"Idiot, stay still," she said softly. He could make out his surroundings now. A green light was coming from his chest where the little hands held him, making him make out the girl's figure. She had black below shoulder length hair with fair white skin that seemed to glow along with her big almond shaped eyes. Was it because of the green light that they seemed in such a deep violet? She was wearing a black cloak. She was small and didn't seem to be over thirteen.
With the green light gone, dissolving them into deep darkness, her hands had got off him and he saw her figure get up.
"Wait, hold on," he said a little too late before she disappeared.
"We're sorry, I mean we didn't think she was anything to you." He said strongly for the man had taken his eyes of him to look at the sad ghost.
