Chapter 1
The Storm
Lynn Morgan stood on the front porch of her home by the sea with her eyes closed, breathing in the salty scent of the ocean. She had lived in that same big, white house for five years, ever since her parents left her when she was ten. She lived alone because if she told any grownups about her missing parents they'd drag her off to an orphanage for another year. That was the absolute last thing she wanted.
"Hey Lynn, sup?" Lynn opened her eyes and blinked. "Allison, how many times have i told you not to come over without calling me or texting me or something?" Lynn scolded, "Why didn't you?" Allison ran her fingers through her curly hair, embarrassed. "I...forgot?" She suggested and Lynn sighed heavily. She decided to let it go. Lynn wasn't in the mood for a fight with her new friend.
"Fine, let's go inside then. It's getting cold out here," Lynn said, rubbing her arms. She was right, the temperature had dropped significantly since Allison had arrived.
As soon as Allison and Lynn stepped inside the house, it started pouring rain. "WHOA!" Lynn shouted in surprise, shutting the sliding glass door. "Windows!" Lynn said and darted around the house, closing the gaping windows.
The two girls hurried around the house, checking every room to make sure the windows weren't open in any of them. Finally, the girls sank down into two large, soft chairs. "It hasn't rained like this in quite a while," Lynn said at last. Allison just nodded.
"Alli, are you ok?" Lynn asked, leaning forward, a troubled expression on her face. "You look sick."
"Of course! I'm fine, really Lynn I am," she said, wide-eyed. She stood up abruptly and turned away.
"Where are you going?" Lynn asked, following her.
"Go sit down, Lynn, I'm just going home," Ally said while fumbling with her hood. "But it's pouring outside, you'll get drenched!" Lynn protested, following her friend to the door.
"I won't," Alli said flatly, "Bye," and closed the door in Lynn's face.
Lynn shook her head and went back and sat in her chair, staring out the window. It had stopped raining and the sky cleared up, revealing thousands of stars.
"Strange," Lynn thought as she went upstairs to her room. "Very strange," She thought as she changed into a tank top and pink lounge pants. "That's freaking creepy," Lynn said out loud as she lay on her bed. "Holy mother fvcking SHIIT!" She screamed and covered her head with a blanket and screamed herself to sleep.
