Chapter 1
The Video Geek's Secret Side
The next day Reese ate lunch with Natalia and Katie along with a few other people. "I swear your going to turn into a rabbit," Katie commented as Natalia ate yet another salad.
"It's called eating healthy and I don't eat that many vegetables," she said, taking off her sweatshirt. Reese looked down when he saw her arm.
"Jeez, what did you do?" Katie asked.
"Fell," she said with a shrug.
"Obviously, you walk much?" Natalia rolled her eyes and continued eating. Reese just looked at her, trying to imagine her dancing again with that look in her eyes....
"I'm eating it's not that amazing," Natalia said dryly. "You okay?" she asked skeptically, looking at him. Reese nodded smiling.
"Don't mind Reese. He can't communicate effectively with others unless a video camera is strapped to his hand," Katie teased looking at him. Reese flushed red, then looked at her.
"She's jealous of my mad camera skills," he said with a smile hoping for one from Natalie. She did a slight smirk and half chuckle before getting up and leaving. Reese knew he would have to break her out of that shell if he would ever get to see her dance.
Reese wiped the sweat off of his brow as he took a gulp of water. His hip hop class had just ended and he swore his dance teacher was out to get him. "Had a hard practice today?" he nodded. "Good, I always push my favorites harder," she said with a smirk. Reese chuckled and headed to the door. "Wait, I have something to give to you," she handed him a bright orange piece of paper with a bunch of white pieces stapled to it. "It's a dance competion. There are various categories for you to enter in," she said. He scanned the paper quickly.
"There's no solo's; you have to have at least two people and a limit of ten." He said. Reese didn't enter many competions, he mostly just went to the classes. Dancing for him was just a nice way to relax.
"Well there is several girls that your could dance with. Lynn, Sadie and..."
"I've never done a duet and it's going to take longer than..."
"Your going to have at least three months, think about it Reese. This could take your dancing really far," he rolled his eyes. He liked dancing, but when he saw someone like Natalia dance he knew he could never have that much passion for it.
He grabbed his bag and headed out the door reading the paper when he bumped into someone. "Sorry," he heard a soprano voice say. It was Natalia, her hair was in a bun and she was wearing sweats.
"It's okay. What are you doing here?" She couldn't lie now, he caught her.
"Oh, I went to the libary after school and wanted to talk to Ms. Delano; Chrissy. She's an old family friend, I'm going to have my mom pick me up here. So what are you doing here?" she looked Reese up and down in his workout clothes.
"Dance class," he said honestly.
"Video geek has a secret side," she said with a smile. A real smile, she leaned over and saw the paper in his hand. "What's that?"
"A competion my instructor wants me to do; I need a partner though. Know any one looking?" She furrowed her eyebrows with a look of bewilderment on her face. "I'll take that as a 'no'. Tell me if you find anyone," Reese called knowing the only person he wanted to do a duet with was her.
