The Night That Changed Me

"Jenny, no funny business", said my mom.
She was of course talking about this girl in my class' sweet sixteen party. Since she didn't know Rebbecca and I was going to my friend Kylie's after the party, she was freaking out.
"Mom what are you talking about?", I replied innocently.
"Jenny I just mean no drinking..or drugs", she said with hesitation.
"Mom why the hell would i do drugs?"
"I don't know. Why would you drink either?"
"Oh I don't know mom, maybe because i come from a long line of alcoholics including my 17 year old sister?" I, responded sarcastically.
"I would think that would be a reason not to drink", she dryly replied.
The truth was I wasn't sure what was going to happen before Rebbecca's party. I knew i was going with this group of girls who were some of my friends, but i didn't know what i was gonna get into. Rebbecca isn't really even my friend so I was confused as to why I was even invited. Once the awkward car ride back from the mall ended I hobbled to my room and went to bed.
The next day of school was a blur. It was a Friday and I was getting excited for the party. All day i talked to the girls i was going to the party with. My best friends Hailey and Jessica hadn't been invited so they were sour that i wasnt talking to them too much. But what could i do about that?? i was excited and i wanted to tell SOMEONE about my great outfit.
"Did you bring it?", my friend Dina who was too going to the party asked.
"Yeah its right here", i said handing her the handcuffs and restraint mask i had from my old prisoner halloween costume.
"YES!!", screamed back.
Dina was different and kind of weird. She was pretty and dark. Her skin was Italian but her hair was a dark mess and her eyes were haunting. They were a bright green that contrasted the rest of her features. She was catlike and sly. For whatever reason she wanted to wear my old stuff to be kinky. The theme of the party was a blackout, so i was wearing a cute short black dress with matching black skate shoes. Classes went by slowly and finally it was last period English. I was not popular. Far from it actually. But a lot of people liked me for my sarcastic humor or something. So, even though i didn't hang out with the popular crowd, some of them talked to me in class and school. Two of the cooler girls in my English class, Gia and Maddie swarmed my desk just as i came into the room.
"OH MY GOD YOU'RE GOING TO REBBECCA'S I AM SO JEALOUS!", yelled Maddie as I sat in my seat. Rebbecca wasn't cool, but different. Her and her friends were those kids who would do drugs and be called outcasts, but secretly everyone wanted to chill with them because they were so much more fun. Gia and Maddie weren't invited to Rebbecca's because they basically ignored her, but since they heard it was going to be crazy they were all of a sudden jealous.
"I heard you're going to Valerie's before?!!", questioned Gia.
"Yup", I replied
"You are gonna get sooo smashed!!", exclaimed Gia.
The truth was i had never drank before, but i knew there would be drinking at Valerie's. There always was.
"I dont know..", was all i could reply
They pestered me for the rest of class when i hadnt even made up my mind yet. After school i found Kylie and we headed for Valerie's car with Dina, Kaitlynn, and Crissy. At Valerie's we watched Superbad and then the drinks came out...I was awkward but willingly sipped the vodka Kaitlynn brought. It was the first time i had really drank, but i liked it. The burn and taste. Dina a little tipsy by the time we left and same with Kaitlynn. Valerie was driving so she didn't drink, and Crissy doesn't drink, but me and Kylie were the worst. The whole car ride was a rush of dizziness.
