Chapter 1
What Happened That Day
Amanda and Emily were the bestest of friends. Ever since they were toddlers they have been perfectly in sync. Both of them were nice, warm hearted girls. What had caused their friendship to fall apart? I guess I'll have to start at the beginning. On a day in October, Emily was walking to school with Amanda and they were talking about their crushes. "OMG, dude, did you hear that yesterday, Oliver totally beat up this kid, and like, he was sent to the office. I feel SO bad for him!!" Amanda said, her silky black hair billowing in the wind. "How can you like OLIVER? Steve's WAAAAAYYY cuter!" Emily, the brunette insisted. "OH, SH*! We're late to school! I'll race you there!" and the two girls were off. Neither of them knew their friendship was about to end- that day. Later in the day, Emily had just invited her other good friend Arielle to sit with her at lunch. Arielle was going to be in the talent show with her, since Amanda was too shy to go up onstage with her. "Ari, what if we don't make it in?" Emily asked, fearing that her and Arielle would never get a chance to be up there on the stage. "It'll be okay, Em. Don't worry about it." But of course, Emily DID worry. She worried all the way till the auditions. At the auditions, Emily and Arielle took center stage and their song began. Arielle began singing and Emily started dancing. When they were done, the judges said good job and kicked them off the stage for the next auditioner. The next day, the results were posted up in the hallway. When Emily and Arielle went to check them, they got a shock. They made it in! They were so excited they could hardly breathe. They managed to wait a few days until the day of the talent show. Backstage, Amanda helped Emily get her makeup ready. "You look great!!!" Amanda complimented, shaking her hair around. "Thanks! Do you think we'll do a good job?" Emily said, suddenly feeling nervous. "You guys will do perfect. Better than I would ever do if I was in that talent show with you." Amanda winked. Arielle strode into the room, holding her ears. "Auuuuuggh!! Jessica sounds HORRIBLE trying to sing that song!" Jessica was the most prissiest and snobbish, vain and self-centered girl in the whole school. And she just happened to be performing right then and there. "Tell me about it. Jessica sounds like a dying cat." Amanda said, once again sliding the hot iron curler on Emily's hair. "Okay, you're all set!" I'll just be in the audience!" Amanda yelled, running out of the room. "Are you ready?" Arielle asked, tossing her blond hair over her shoulder. Emily immediately started sweating. "You alright?" Arielle asked again. "Um, yeah. Let's go." Emily followed Arielle out the door and onto the stage. As they took places, Emily saw Amanda in the audience and she waved nervously. The song began, and before either Emily or Arielle knew it, it was over. The audience was just applauding when Emily saw Amanda lean next to the girl next to her, Elizabeth, and she since Amanda was so close to the stage, Emily heard Amanda say, "Dude, she's a BI**! She sang so HORRIBLY! I hate her!" Emily had never heard Amanda talk about her like that. The crowd was still clapping, and Arielle was blowing kisses at the audience. Emily quickly ran off the stage, her high heels clopping on the wooden stage. Arielle whipped around, and said, "Emily! EMILY! Where are you going?" and Arielle took off after her. Emily ran into the janitor's closet and sat on the floor. She began crying and crying. She actually thought that she had lost her BFF- for good.
