Chapter 1
Pinky Promise
Pinky Promise?
Best Friends....
Forever...
Promises to never change....
Remain the same....
You and I
I and You
Entertwined....
'Till one becomes the other.
The secrets we've shared;
tears we've shed,
Pride we've swallowed
Laughs with promises to follow
Through thick and thin,
Knobby knees....
All those summer freckles.
Then came the fights.
Bitter hatred,
the kind that;
Spouts from the love,
We share.
Always....
In the end..
Pinky Promise?
Best Friends....
Forever...
Promises to never change....
Remain the same....
"Hey!" A little girl cried as a boy smeared dirt on her cheek. He laughed and she got a clump and threw it at him.
"Dani!" a woman callled out to her, rolining her eyes at the younger version of herself.
"He started it!" she said.
"Did not!" the boy argued.
"Did to,"
"Not,"
"To," this went on continusly for several minutes. The woman rolled her eyes and walked over to her husband watching the exhange. Soon the argument was over and the two were bent over the ground. You could harldy tell where one started and the other began, it was a tangle of tan limbs with red and brown hair all mixed together. The peace however didn't last long, it never did.
"You're such a girl," Adam whined.
"Am not!" Dani cried shoving his shoulder.
"Are too, if your not a girl what are you?" he teased.
"I'm Dani," she said hotly. The adults listened to this trying to withhold their laughter. Dani got up and walked away, Adam chased after her.
"They're going to get married," Dani's mother announced grabbing her husbands hand leaning on his shoulders. "Who else could handle her?"
They watched the six year olds talk to each other at the bottom of the tree whispering and using exaggereated gestures, but as you got closer you could make it out.
"Best friends?" Dani asked. " You'll never change?" Adam countered. They held out their pinky's and linked them and said in unison, "Pinky Promise," it was the usual exchange.
