"See you mom, bye dad!" "Where are you going?" "Nurse Joy wants to teach me some more stuff about healing pokemon!" I yelled through the door. "Ok then, hun." "Promise you'll be back by tonight." "Rightio dad. See you!" "Bye Light!" "Love you!" "Yeah, love you too, can i go now?" "Yes." "Thanks." I left and ran to the local Pokemon center in my home town, Celadon City. When i got there i said hello to Nurse Joy. "Hello Light, or should i say Lightning Power, since the big competition is today."
"Ssh!" I went behind the curtain and changed from my pink dress to my blue hoodie and yellow and black shorts. "The last thing i need is someone figuring out that im Lightning Power!" I walked out and went up to Nurse Joy. "Wheres Riki?" "She's in here, playing with an Elekid someone is using in battle, as usual." I smiled. "Riki always got along with everyone. No matter if they were competition." "Sounds like someone i know." She nudged me as i opened the door and kneeled down.
I almost fell over. "Nurse Joy!" "Sorry." I looked back down at my Pikachu, playing with an Elekid. "Aw, they're so cu-" "Elekid!" I fell forward as a boy about my age stormed past. "Stop fooling around and get back here!" The Elekid froze in its spot and tredged towards the purple haired kid. He put it back in its pokeball and started leaving. I stood up as Riki hopped into my arms. "Excuse me, but thats not how you treat a pokemon!" "Excuse me, but i dont care!" He pushed past and i looked at Nurse Joy. "Who is that kid?" "I think his name is Paul, he'll be going against you in the competition."
"Geez. He wont win with an attitude like that." Then another purple haired guy came by. "Did my brother just come by?" "What you mean Mister Grumpy-Gills? The boy that knocked me over?" "He did that?" I nodded as Riki crawled onto my head, her lightning necklace falling in front of my face. I blew it out of the way. "Sorry. He can be a little hostile sometimes." I scoffed. "Did you see how he treated his Elekid?" He was about to say something when Nurse Joy cleared her throat. "Doesnt the competition start soon?"
I nodded. "Right." "By soon, i mean, really soon." I looked at my watch and i had five minutes to get there. "Shoot! I gotta run! See you, Nurse Joy." I ran off, yelling back behind me. "See you, brother-of-Mister-Gurmpy-Gills!" He got in his truck and drove beside me. "My names Reggie. Mister chuckle Grumpy-Gills is Paul. Want a ride there?" I skidded to a stop. "That'd be nice. Thank you." I hopped in the other side and we drove to the gym. He dropped me off and i smiled. "Thank you, Reggie." "No problem." He drove off, and yelled back. "Tell Mister Grumpy-Gills i said hi!" "Will do!"
I ran through the doors and signed in. "Your first match will be against Victra Powers." I nodded. I walked to the waiting room, then froze halfway there. "Victra?" I ran in and slammed into someone. "Ow. Sorry-" I looked up and it was Mister Grumpy-Gills. "Oh, its you. Well, thats fine then." I was about to walk past him when i stopped. "Oh yeah, your brother says hi." He just grunted and walked past. "Geez." I looked in the waiting room for Victra. I didnt think she'd do it this year! Now my covers going to be blown.
Victra is my older sister. She's the reason my parents dont let me battle. She was always off somewhere, doing god knows what and my parents dont get any word from her until she comes back into town every so often to relax and join a competition. Just for the fun of it. Now was my chance to do the same, and she decides to compete! She was my first battle too. I groaned as soon as i saw her. Please dont notice me. Please dont notice me. Please don- "Hey there cutie. You must be the Lightning Power everyone has been talking about." "Uh-" "They say you might win this, but i think you got some heavy competition with me here now."
I resisted smirking. Victra never let anyone get a word in edgewise. She was like that even when we were little. She kept on talking until the first matches started. Paul and some other kid named George. "Wow, that Paul kid looks good, dont you think?" "Well i-" "He's kinda cute, too. Not that i'd date him. Too young for me. I could always just set him up with my little sister." She spun to look me up and down. "Better yet..... I could set her up with you!" I almost burst out laughing. "Yeah. You know, you kind of remind me of her. You guys would like each other. She doesnt talk much either."
Well when i try you just interupt. I looked back up at the screen, ignoring Victra raving on about me and mom and dad. Paul is good. Then it was Victra and I's turn to battle. I looked over at the couch. "Riki! Come on." "Pika!" She jumped onto my shoulder and we ran out to the arena. "Next match will be our homecoming retired gym leader, Victra Powers!" Victra came out of the other side of the arena and waved. Everyone cheered. "Against our mystery rookie who didnt give us his name, just a title. Heres Lightning Power!" I was about to run out when Riki jumped off my shoulder and ran out before me. "And this is Lightnings pikachu!"
Everyone laughed and i ran out, a little pink in the cheeks and everyone cheered. Well this match is getting off to a good start.
