Love, Blood & Roses

My name is Alexandria Thorne, and this is the story of my life. In Weybridge England 1882 it was a quiet spring night when I heard a terrible scream. It was coming from the basement, I was only 10 and I was so helpless and innocent. But I had no choice, I quickly hurried down to the basement where I heard my mothers terrible scream. When I finally made it to the basement I only caught a glimpse of a boy no older then me. He quickly escaped out of the window and into the night. I had no time to chase him, all my attention was on my mother who was laying on the cold cement floor, she was barely alive. I saw something on her neck. I looked closer and it was a vampire bite. I didn't believe it, all the vampires were supposed to be wiped out. I knew what this meant, it was the awakening. I'm sorry I'm getting ahead of myself, long ago there was a war, between the humans and the vampires, it was a gruesome battle. It lasted from 1610 to 1615 where no human or vampire was safe. In the end the humans or as the vampires call them “donors “ won the battle and the remaining vampires retreated and went into a hiding to rebuild their empire. I knew what I had to do. I journeyed to the center of England known as London where the soldiers were stationed in case of event such as this. I hurried the South entrance where a soldier was guarding the door. I told him I needed to talk to Colonel Aldway, he refused to let me in unless I had permission from Sergeant Barwick. I quickly hurried towards Aldershot which was close to my home. When I finally made it to Aldershot fort I noticed something was...off. I ran up to the entrance but not guard were there, I proceeded into the fort. There on the floor I found most of the soldiers dead but this was no regular death. They were bitten, as I was standing there I collapsed out of shock. There was no way to get from Sergeant Barwick now. Then suddenly I heard an eerie noise, almost like a horror movie, Sergeant Barwick wasn't dead, he was just bitten. I screamed a heart wrenching shriek, and ran away it was only a matter of minutes until he caught up. On my way out I locked the door I knew this wouldn't hold him long but I was running as fast as I could. My knees were shaking so hard I could barely support my but I finally made it back to London where I found Colonel Aldway coming out of the South entrance. Stammering finally spit out the words.
"C-C-Colonel Aldway! Sergeant Barwick he's-he's-"
He said in a soft concerned voice "Calm down. Now then, what is your name little girl?"
"My-my name is Alexandria Thorne, Sir" I said stumbling
"Alexandria? What a beautiful name. Now what about Sergeant Barwick"” He questioned
"Thank you Sir" I had completely forgotten about that parasite: Sergeant Barwick chasing me. Then I remembered
“Colonel Sergeant Barwick he's he's-” out of no where Barwick swooped down and tried to bite Aldway. I quickly pulled out the gun which I had forgotten about and shot and killed Mr. Barwick. It was a perfect shot, right to the heart. After what I did Colonel Aldway told me how perfect my aim was and asked me how I would like to join Fort Brigs. I was flattered but being only 10 I didn't know what to do. I told him id sleep on it and ask my mother the next day when I visit her at the hospital in Bromley. He told me to meet him here tomorrow at noon with the news. I slowly wondered off to home, awaiting tomorrow.
