Chapter 1

The Man

by: pmb0629
He was a blur in the wind. Rock sprinted as fast as he could, and finished two and a half whole seconds ahead of second place. That was his last track meet. He had finished in first over all. His best friend Thunder rushed over and congratulated him. She had dark blonde hair and was almost as tall as Rock.
Just as his school was about to leave, the man holding a stopwatch, who had kept Rock's time called him over.
"Yes sir?" Rock asked.
"That was some mighty fine running you just did there." He responded.
"Oh, thanks a lot." Rock replied. He was about to catch up to his class when the man raised his stopwatch and hurled it at Rock. Rock sidestepped, and the watch went shooting past him, but then it turned around and zoomed after Rock. It would've smashed Rock's skull, but a green water bottle came out of no where and collided with the stopwatch. Both clattered to the ground. Rock turned around just in time to see the man sprinting away. He quickly thanked Thunder for throwing her water bottle with dead accuracy and ran like the wind. Thunder tried as hard as she could to keep up, and finally did after Rock had pushed the man to the ground and leaned over him.
"Who are you?" Rock inquired.
"I am..." The man started, then he stared with wide eyes at something over Rock's shoulder. Rock turned around, but the man was to quick. He kicked Rock in the shin, and trampled Thunder. Rock got up, and again chased after the man. This time, while Rock was running, he took off his hoodie and caught up to the man. Rock wrapped the hoodie around the man's neck and dragged him to the ground. Rock held the man down and the man revealed his identity.
"I am Troon. Sent to destroy you by...by...by him."
"Who?" Rock yelled. The man didn't reply, but instead twisted Rock's arm around and ran off again. Rock and Thunder didn't bother to chase him down for another time.
They caught up with their class just in time for the train, not noticed to be missing. Rock and Thunder walked down the stairs, and jumped onto a train. Neither talked about Troon, though, both knew the thought was lingering in the air in front of them.
The train stopped, and their class hopped off. They walked back to their lockers, packed up, and walked out the door. There was only one more day left of school before summer break. Rock an Thunder said goodbye to each other, and parted ways. Rock slowly walked home and greeted his mom waiting for him at the stove. He told her all about the track meet except for the part about Troon, because he knew that she would call the police, and Rock would be constantly bothered by his mom.
The next day Rock awoke early, excited for the last day at school. But, Rock should not have been to excited, because nothing could ever prepare him for what was going to happen, later that day.
