The Forgotten Pinky Promise
When Jessie Lovaine makes a childish -and sacred, she thought- pinky promise to her childhood friend, she never expected him to forget about it and never cross his mind. He moved, far away from her, and never remembered little Jessie again. But when the time comes, Logan comes back with little to no memories of her... Would Jessie try and make him reminiscent the past or move on already?

"Logan! Look!" yelled Jessie, pointing to the nearby shrubbery as she jumped from the swing and set foot on the cold, hard ground.
Her black ragged hair was bobbing up and down with her chin as the beads of sweat clung for dear life onto her skin. Logan stared hard at what she was pointing at, but to no avail. He took small intended steps that instantly irritated the other girl. She never was the patient one.
She continued to skip as fast as her chubby little legs could carry her. "Jessie, move slower!" demanded Logan. He finally caught up to her when the a little pebble caused Jessie to trip and fall, scraping her knee in the process.
She started sobbing and tears pricked her eyes as she tried to get up. Logan immediately dropped to the ground and checked on her knees. "Are you alright?"
"N-no, I-I'm f-f-feel-ling b-bril-liant," replied Jessie, sarcasm dripping in her lips even though she continued to sob. Logan chuckled before putting a hand behind her knees.
"Hold on tight," he said, lifting her up.
She clutched his shirt, tightly, and drenching it with tears. Her right knee almost felt numb, except for the excruciating pain. Logan caressed her face and kept whispering things that were meant to be soothing.
Too soon enough, they arrived at their house. Logan wondered where he would take Jessie, as they were next door neighbors. But to his relief, his mum immediately ran out to greet them.
His mother squealed, but Jessie didn't stir. She was asleep, Logan assumed. Her blood was dried on his shirt and her knee looked gruesome. She fell on the cement harder than expected.
"Logan! What did you do?"
"Nothing, mum! Jessie fell!"
His mother wasted no time in scurrying them inside as she prepared the supplies. When she finally pressed bandages on Jessies knee, she finally woke up. Her face looked like a mess; dried tears, dirt from the fall and hair sticking in it.
His mum smiled and left the two of them on the living room as she scampered to cook dinner.
"What happened? Oh, my knees seems sore and painful." groaned Jessie.
"You tripped, idiot. I carried you all the way here," bragged Logan, smiling at her "You weren't light too,"
She scowled in return but hugged him otherwise.
"Thanks for not leaving me there," she murmured in his shoulder.
"I'll never leave you," he replied as Jessie broke away.
"You won't?" she asked as he nodded in reply.
"Pinky promise?" continued Jessie, holding out her pinky. He intertwined her fingers with his and lifted both their hands, making the lights cast a shadow to the floor.
Little did the foolish girl know promises were never meant to be but always broken.
