Big Brother ~ A Poem ~

It will be soon that you're gone,
Off to bigger and better things.
Big brother, I feel as though I don't belong
In your days of new beginnings.
Remember when we were small?
We'd run and laugh and play,
I never thought at all
About you leaving me this day.

You've taught me so much,
Over all of our years.
I thought we'd always remain as such,
Which is why I now shed these tears.
Big brother, I miss you.
Why do you have to leave?
I want to go, too.
Don't leave me here to grieve.

You've always been right there.
A simple stroll down the hall
And I could see how you are
Without any trouble at all.
I'm happy you're moving on.
I'm proud to be your sister.
I'm just sad to see you gone,
It hurts like a bad blister.

Big brother, congratulations.
You're ready to be on your own.
Off to new locations,
Leaving little sis all alone.
I can no longer see your smile,
Hear your jokes, or
Talk with you once in a while.
Still, there's so much to be happy for.

I love you, big brother.
Even though we may fight.
You're better than any other
Big brother that you might
Have ended up being.
