Chapter 29
I'm sorry it's been taking me a while to post. We're just settling in to our new house and our computer wasn't hooked up for a while, so I was only able to go on at school for short periods of time. But that has changed and I will be on more often!

Chapter 1

Three Red Lines (29)

After Travis parked the car and walked inside, I thought about asking him about the text he sent me last night.
"So, is that why you had to go when we were texting last night? Because you got your car, or should I say truck?"
"Yes Scarlette, the text said I love you." He looked down at me and smirked.
"I wasn't going to ask about that..." I blushed a little and didn't make eye contact with him.
"Come on, I know you too well." He nudged me a little and I laughed. "And I did mean it. I wouldn't lie about that."
"Thank you." I reached up and kissed his cheek. I noticed a poster on the wall about prom tickets for sale. "We still have to get tickets for prom."
Travis pulled something out of his bag. "Bought them on Monday."
"Ok, that works. How much were they, I'll pay for mine."
"In no way am I letting you pay me back." There was no use of trying to argue so I just let it go.
We walked into homeroom and sat down just as the bell rang. Our teacher started by taking attendence as usual.
"Harris, I was told to give you this."
"Oh, okay." I took the folder from my teacher. I opened it to see what it was. The first thing I looked at was a letter. It was from Mr. Avila. He basically told me thank you for being a tutor for the middle school.
Besides the letter, there were papers on when I would start tutoring and who I was helping. I scanned the list to see if Hannah or Kelly was on there, but they weren't.
"What's that?"
"It's my tutoring stuff." Travis just nodded his head and looked around the room. A few minutes later, the bell rang for first period.
Travis took me by the hand and walked with me down the hallway. I could see Nathan coming the other way, and Travis tensed up and pulled me closer to him.
Nathan looked at us and tried moving closer but Travis moved us faster and farther away from him.
"If he ever tries coming near you again, please tell me." He relaxed, but still kept me close to him. "That way I can do something about it."
"Don't do something stupid and get yourself suspended again."
He laughed and said, "I won't." We turned into our class and sat in our seats.
"Your mom is going shopping with me this weekend."
"For what reason?"
"I need someone to help me pick out a dress. And I don't want you to see it until the night of. It'll be a surprise."
"Aw, okay."
The bell rang again and Mr. Avila started talking.
"Because it's Friday, and I don't feel like teaching you anything today, we're watching a movie." Everyone in class was happy about that. "So you can move around and get comfortable."
A lot of people put their heads down or moved to the floor. Travis pulled my chair closer to him and put his arm over my shoulders as usual. Mr. Avila pressed play, and the movie started.
The movie we were watching was The Sixth Sense. It was a somewhat disturbing movie. But nothing like the movie Travis took me to.
He leaned his head down and whispered to me. "Remember our first date when I took you to see Paranormal Activity? You were so scared."
"I was just thinking of that." I could tell that he was smirking without looking at him. "I still can't believe you took me to see it."
"I don't know about you, but I was enjoying myself that night."
"Of course you were. I practically jumped on top of you." He laughed and began to play with my hair.
"Do you want to go out tonight?"
"Sure, what did you have in mind?"
"I don't know, I'll think about it." For the rest of the period, we watched the movie and talked every so often.
Mr. Avila stopped the movie five minutes early so we could get our stuff together for second period.
"I'll see you all Monday. Oh, and Scarlette, you start tutoring next week."
"Okay." With that, the bell rang. Travis and I walked out in the hall to our next classes. I wished he was in my Study Hall class, because I have no one to talk to and Shelly is just annoying. "So have you thought of a place to go yet?"
"Yes, but I'm not completely positive yet." We stopped in front of the door to my class. "I'll probably figure it out by the time I pick you up." He leaned down and hugged me. "I'll see you at lunch."
"Bye." I turned and walked into the room. It was the same as any other day. Shelly and her posse was at their table gossiping and being obnoxious as usual.
I pulled out a book and started reading it. I was surprised that Shelly wasn't saying anything to me. I thought about what Travis and I were going to do tonight.
A few minutes later, the fire alarm broke the silence in the room. I got up from my table and headed towards the door. But Shelly pushed me out of the way so I followed behind her.
When I got outside I looked to see if Travis was around. I could see him in a crowd of people that looked like they came from gym class. Since he's the tallest, he was the easiest to see.
I walked up to him and stood with him.
"Hey. What are you doing in class?" His shirt looked wet so I didn't want to touch him.
"Weight room."
"Cool." He was about to respond but a teacher came over to us.
"No talking. This is a drill." She walked away and I looked at Travis.
"Way to get us in trouble." I joked.
"You were talking first!" The same teacher looked back at us again so we stopped. We spent five minutes standing outside until we were allowed back in.
"See you at lunch." He tried hugging me but I pushed him away.
"Ew, don't touch me you're all sweaty and gross."
"Alright fine." As I turned to leave he quickly hugged me from behind. I looked back at him. He waved and walked away.
Back in study hall, I continued to read until class was over. When the bell rang, I packed up my stuff and left.
English was long and boring. We read Romeo and Juliet the entire time. Like always, I counted down the minutes until class was over. When it was, I walked as quickly as I could to meet Travis.
He had already gotten food and found a seat by the time I got there. I sat down with him and we started talking.
