Chapter 1
Help is Too Far...
I took twists and turns, getting myself lost in the castle, I ran until I couldn't breath.
I put my back against a wall and slid down it...My feet were killing me, so I kicked off my shoes and ignored the pain. I tried to remember what happened, but nothing came to mind...so I just sat there, breathing in deeply...
Then I cried. It hurt by how much I held in came out so quickly. Everything's gone wrong, terribly wrong....Not only did I get scared and faint because of the Dementors, I actually made plans with my worst enemy and because my best friend didn't support me, I lost him.... I cried harder, hating myself for letting this happen to me.
When my tears lessened, I heard footsteps coming towards me. I looked up and saw our new teacher, Professor Lupin. I saw that he knew I came this way and was just following me.
"Miss Riddle, you're terribly hard to find." He stopped in front of me, reaching his hand out. I took it and lifted myself up. "Come, lets get you cleaned up." Professor Lupin started walking down the hall, me following slowly, holding my shoes. It only took one left turn and two right turns to get to what seemed to be the Defense Against the Dark Arts class room.
We walked past all the empty desks and into his office. He motioned me to sit, and as I did, he handed me a tissue. "Thank you."
"Of course." He went to the other side of his desk and sat down as well. When I was done wiping my eyes, he was ready for answers. "Miss Riddle-"
"Tay, just call me Tay..." He smiled a small smile.
"Tay, are you alright?" I looked around a bit, but scolded myself for ignoring the question. "I don't think so...I don't really remember much..."
"Don't worry, it's okay if you can't." Professor Lupin sat back a bit, but I stayed sitting up. "Tay, what happened that made you upset at Harry?" I chuckled a bit after remembering.
"I was done with dinner and I wanted to walk a bit...It's a little hazy but I remember Malfoy followed me and we made plans to hang out or something....Then I walked in with him and Harry was upset....I told him he wasn't a true friend if he...if he wouldn't respect my choices and he......he said he was there to make sure....I wouldn't....wouldn't b-b-be stupid..." My voice started cracking, but I just wanted to admit to myself what happened. "And I slapped him. It hurt a bit, but I couldn't help it....Then I just found myself there....next to the wall..."
Professor Lupin took this well, because he was nodding. "Well, Sir Nicholas saw where you went, good thing or else we wouldn't have found you until morning." He stood up and walked over to me. "Tay, I understand you're hurting, and it's not great when a friend acts like this, but I believe Harry was just scared for you, seeing the past history with Mr. Malfoy...Come on, lets get you back to the Tower." I stood up and followed him out of the office.
It took us a bit, but we finally reached The Fat Lady. "Fortuna Major." The portrait swung open as Professor Lupin said it. He looked back at me, "This is where our paths end, for now. Go and take clean yourself up and I'll bet Miss Granger will help with your headache. Goodnight, Tay."
I started to walk in when I forgot. "Professor Lupin, thank you. Fairfarren." I walked in as the Portrait closed. When I reached the Common Room, three people stood up as I entered. "Tay!" They all came up to make sure I was okay.
"Tay, are you alright?" "Tay what happened to you?" "Where have you been?" "Tay, will you forgive me?" I put my hand up and they all stood silently.
"I hope I'm not in trouble with Percy." Hermione was the quickest to answer.
"Don't worry, Dumbledor excused you from detention that Percy had ready for you. He also wanted to talk to you, but Professor Lupin told him that he was going to go get you. Are you alright?"
I closed my eyes and realized how tired I was. "I'm just tired, alright? Hermione, do you have anything to get rid of a headache?" She was already rushing towards the girls dormitory before it all came out. Ron was walking to the boys dormitory, and Harry was standing there, looking at me.
"Tay, I-"
"Not right now, Harry...I'm not ready..." Harry looked down and nodded. He followed Ron and left me standing all alone...Welcome home? More like Welcome to your wost Nightmare.... I walked into the girls dorm and after using a headache spell, fell right asleep....
