The Wild One
So you say you want to read a tale. Well this a tale alright, it's a tale of the wild one and the strange man. But it is a tale none the less, that needs to be told. In fact if you still listen at night ,you can hear the wild one rustling amongst her former residence...
Chapter 1
Chapter One
The story doesn't begin until a strange man comes up and asks for the wild one's hand in marriage. The wild one curl's flew everywhere; the scarlet color of her dress was deep. She hasn't quite spoken since she was eight. The strange man had a presence about him; his eyes were bolder than most gentlemen. The father was almost in shock or bewildered that he would come. Her brother had a hopeful feeling that this man would be right for his sister. Her brother was also a painter and got told it wasn't a good way to make a living.
The wild one's hair was a fiery red color. To be honest everything about her was wild, she had no manners, little respect for others. The girl stared and then looked down at the ground. Her father said “He has come to ask for your hand in marriage."
The wild one looked down and mumbled “A restless spirit doesn't settle.”
Her father looked at her and said "He is a fine suitor."
The girl looked around and then got up and began to run up the stairs holding her dress. The strange man got up and began to follow her. The girl ran up the stairs and took a deep breath. She looked at the door and she went in the room. The strange man found her and looked at her and said” It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
The wild one looked around and nervously said “The pleasure is mine.”
Then she ran out into the next door and into a different wing of the house. The strange man stood there trying to figure out what he was going to do with her. Then he ran after to find her again. The wild one looked around and then saw the gardens. She got out the window and began to walk the roof until she got there. She looked at a flower picked it up and smelled it. It smelled sweet and tender to her; it reminded her of her mother. She wanted to paint it, she wanted to show it for all of its beauty.
The strange man looked at her and said “Do I make you nervous?”
The wild one didn’t answer and just ran further into the garden looking at the sky as she ran. The strange man said “It’s is not my intention to make you nervous.”
The wild one sat down on the ground and arranged her skirts, she sat there in silence. The strange man said “Not one for talking?”
The wild one shook her head and gave him a piece of paper with a drawing on it. It was a picture of a woman with a rose. The strange man looked at it and said “Who is she?”
The wild one refused to tell him and left in a hurry, heading back towards the house. She ran in and went up the stairs, she ran to the painting room. The wild one locked it and the door on the opposing side.
The strange man knocked on the door and the wild one could feel his temper flaring with each second. The wild one sat against the door and sighed. The strange man broke it open, the wild one looked horrified, and he had come into her space. The strange man stared at all the paintings and drawings. Then he looked at the girl and said “If I must, I will tell them you caught yourself in a fit, and that it up to me to decide if we shall wed. “
The wild one looked at him and had a look of horror on her face. The strange man looked her and said “But I will not like it if I have to be insistent.”
The wild one looked at him and then mumbled “I shall not like that either.”
The strange man sat down at her level and looked at her and said “Such a darling young women must exist somewhere in you.”
The wild one looked at him and then scoffed at the notion. The strange man put a hand on her face and said “Making you a lady, would not be an easy task. Especially one that is presentable to London. “
The wild one said “I wish not to be out there.”
The strange man said” It seems you have no choice.”
The wild one said” I’m not one for speaking, but you force me too.”
The strange man said “Indeed I do, you have a lovely voice.”
The wild one said “I have a soft voice.”
The strange man said “You would be a beautiful bride.”
The wild one said “I have no desire to be any man’s bride.”
The strange man said” Not even mine?”
The wild one said “Especially not yours.”
The strange man said “You would be such a quiet wife.”
The wild one said “I am neither dainty nor gentle.”
The strange man said “You can become those things.”
The wild one said “ It is not my choice to sir, I shall dread day ,if it comes, that I have to call you dear husband.”
The strange man said” Madame, it seems you don’t have much a say in this matter.”
The wild one said “It seems so.”
The strange man said “For a women that doesn’t talk, you are well spoken.”
The wild one said “ I am well informed sir.”
The strange man said “ of the inside sphere.”
The wild one said “ No on the strange nature of humans.”
The strange man said “You have hardly been outside the house.”
The wild one said” I have heard tale upon tale about the world. I recall them in my mind.”
The strange man said “My dear, the world is much more than a tale; if you marry me you will just spend your time in another house.”
The wild one said” I do not wish to do so, there is something telling me that I shouldn’t.”
The strange man said “I know in my heart that I could love you at any rate.”
The wild one said “I do not want your love.”
The strange man said “It doesn’t matter if you want my love or not.”
The wild one said “It matters to my heart.”
The strange man said “The feelings of your heart are of no importance to me.”
The wild one said “What is your name, kind gentlemen?”
The strange man said “Joseph and what your name? My dear”
The wild one said “Mercy.”
The strange man said “What a beautiful name, but you say it with such coldness.”
The wild one said” I tell you with such coldness.”
The strange man said “One day I will call you my darling with such warmth in my voice.”
The wild one said” I will recoil when you call me that.”
