Love & Heartbreak Part 10

John - Hey

Melanie - Yea, Hi

John - (nonchalantly) I didn't know you were back.

Melanie - It's my first day

John - Oh

Randy comes around the corner of course they don't see him so he sleaks back around it and watches them.

Melanie - I guess I will go find Randy now.

John - Okay.

She turns to walk away but turns back around.

Melanie - Yea, I can't do this.

John - Um...what can't you do? (Turning to face her)

Melanie - Pretend that everything is okay with us when it is not.

John - Yea, I have to admit that you suck at pretending like everything is okay.

Melanie - Okay...yea, I do....look from now on nothing but the truth okay?

John - If we are speaking nothing but the truth I think I can handle that.

Melanie - Look I cared about you and I still had feelings for you when I got married to Randy.

John - Okay

Melanie - But I don't anymore (lying) a lot of things have changed acutally.

John - Changed?

Melanie - Yea, I'm less selfish -- not everything is about me. And I love my husband (playing with her wedding set) he is the best and he makes me very happy.

John - Well, thats great.

Melanie - But if that is going to make things werid between us running into each other here at the office then....

John - It's not a problem. I'm with Stephanie now.

Melanie - (smiling) right

John - So we're cool.

Melanie - Good I am glad we are good.

John - Yea, it's good that we both have moved on.

Melanie - Yea, I am glad we could get that out in the open.

Randy smiles and heads off in the direction of the parking lot.

Couple of hours later -- Monday Night Raw

John was in a match against Wade Barrett -- Wade slammed John down on his side causing a mild injury.

Afterwards John was the locker/shower room by himself. He leans foward placing his forhead against his locker door. He hears movement behind him. He turns around and sees Melanie sitting on the bench.

Melanie - I heard you lost your match tonight.

John - Melanie I have to be honest with you when I walked out to the ring tonight I wasn't thinking about the fight I was thinking about you.

Melanie - See if you weren't thinking about me you wouldn't have gotten hurt.

John - Melanie it's not your fault.

Melanie - Maybe it is -- maybe if I thought about how hard this was going to be I wouldn't have came back.

They look at each other for a few minutes. Melanie jumps up .

John - I also don't think it's right that you quit your job because of me.

Melanie - (wiping a tear) But you just said...( seeing Stephanie) in coming at 2 o'clock.

John - (whispering) we need to talk about this I'm gonna call you (speaking quickly)

Melanie - Hey Stephanie

John - (turning to face her) Hey

Melanie - Uh I better go home it's been a long day...

John casually watches as Melanie leaves the locker/shower room.

Couple of nights later

Randy is walking through a coffee shop's door talking on his cell phone.

Randy - 15 minutes thats it. No, no I am gonna get a coffee then I will head over after that. It's my first night away from my wife and I am not crazy about the idea. Yea, Yea...okay see you then.

He hangs up the phone.

Melaie

She is at the house -- grabs her purse and jacket off the kitchen table. As she heads out the door -- John walks up.

Melanie - Hey

John - Hey

Melanie - I was just on my way out...what's up?

John - (walking around her thru the door and into the kitchen) we started a conversation yesterday that never got finished.

Melanie - Well, uh....(closing the door behind her) I was busy and you were busy I guess our paths just didn't cross.

John - Oh they crossed I went to talk to you later that night and you made a bee line towards the elevator.

Melanie - Oh...I am sorry I think I was just in a hurry to get home.

John - (smiling at her) I don't believe you. I think you are avoiding me.

Randy

He was still at the coffee shop.

Randy -(on the phone again) Hey look um...I know this is last minute but I need to reschedule that signing. Ah...tell them I'm sick -- tell them I have a fever or whatever. No, no I am fine I am a newly wed spending the night alone without my wife. (sighing) It just doesn't feel right. So I am going home to be with my wife.

He hangs up the phone and heads out of the coffee shop.

Melanie and John

Melanie - I am not avoiding you John ....I mean we were busy and as far as us carrying on our conversation I really don't know what else to say. I told you that if you are uncomfortable with me working I will just quit.

John - No, I told you that's not what I want.

Melanie - But if it's making it hard for you to focus I mean you are the face of WWE you are the BIG star that helps this compandy make money. I am just a consultant who is alot more replaceable than you are.

John - Stop it --not your not replaceable not to me.

Melanie - Okay...look we probably should talk about this is not a good time okay?

John - Why are we alone?

Melanie nods.

John - (stepping forward) Well, then I say it's a really good time.

Melanie - (watching him move closer) Why is it a good time?

John - So we can be honest with each other on how we feel. (reaching down and grabbing her hand)

Melanie - (pulling her hand away) Alright John we are being...I mean we have been honest with each other (walking away) because you...you said you were uncomfortable about me working for the company and I told you I would quit.

John - Look Melanie I told you that I am not going to let you do it. You know that's not what I mean about being honest.

Melanie - Then what? (looking down) What do you mean about being honest?

John - (smoothly) Hey

She looks up at him.

John - I think....I mean I know I still care about you and I am pretty dam sure you still care about me too.

Melanie - Don't tell me how to feel

John - Fine I won't but will you?

Melanie - Will I what?

John - (shrugging his shoulders) Tell me how you feel about me, about us.

Melanie - Why are you doing this John??!!?? I told you that things have changed and I am committed to...

John - I know what you said...but I want to know how you feel. C'mon if we don't deal with it we are going to continue to keep confusing ourselves.

Melanie - (facing him) Okay if I am going to be completely honest it starts with a letter I wrote you on my wedding day.

John - The letter I never read? It said you just wanted to be friends.

Melanie - That's not what it said...

John - It's....not.....but....you...said....

Melanie - I know that is what I told you on what the letter said but I lied to you.

John - Then what did it say Melanie?

Melanie - (fighting back the tears) It said I would leave Randy for you if you still loved me I wouldn't have married him because I wanted to be with you. (turning to face him)

John stands there speechless for a few minutes.

John - Wow ...I was hoping.....uh...I am so glad to hear you say that.

Melanie - (getting more upset) It doesn't matter because you didn't come!! Stephanie said you didn't even want too....

She was cut off in mid- sentence when John lightly grabbed the back of her head and started to kissed her passionality.

Randy had just arrived home and sees them through the window of the kitchen door.
