Chapter 1
The First day
Jess stepped onto the yellow, yucky, sticky, school bus at 7: 46 in the morning. Her boots splashed in the doorway, drenching her with dirty sewer pipe water. " Hop aboard new girl." Great. The bus driver was already calling her," New Girl". She strode to the back, and sat down in the corner by herself, where she probably would be for the rest of the year. The bus lurched forward, smushing Jess against her backpack and jabbing her side into her book. When the Yellow castastrophe calmed, Jess opened the book, Feathers by Jaquieline Woods, and buried her nose deep into it.
Jess was a bookworm, and a nerd no doubt.Helping that situation was her braces, which were bright orange and pink. Jess nestled into her jacket, resting her head on the hood like a mini pillow. This was a new invention she had came up with, the pillow hood. She had been known for her inventions at her old school, but now the only thing she would only be known as would be "New Girl." Jess sighed loudly, turning a few nearby heads. One of the heads was of a girl about twelve, with long blonde curls and a bright smile. " Wait a second, did she have braces." jess peered at the girl for a minute, trying to see her teeth, which where peeking out from his all-lips smile. That's how jess had to smile now, to keep from, " Whoa there. You got braces! Whoo Whoo hold the train, the tracks are almost there!" Yep, defiantly some pastel colored bands. Unlike Jess, they were only on her bottom teeth, because her top were neat and white and straight. The girl quickly turned away, frowning and closing her mouth.
The bus stopped, leaning foward as though about to chase a cat up a tree, and the doors opened. Kids bustled out, and Jess wrapped her arms around her backpack, to keep from getting trampled. When everyone was gone, she hurried out, waving to the bus driver non-chalantly, and hopping onto the school pavement.
