In the shadows
Alexxa is a very beautiful girl with a not so beautiful past. She has been living in the shadows as a loyal servant to the nightworld and now she has been given the most important mission of her life. She needs to find Jake Samuels, a high school student, and bring him to the elders as a sacrifice. But her feelings for him may put her in danger aswell.
It was unusually cold today in the small town of Burning Springs. Alexxa was thinking to herself as she walked through an old, abandoned path through the woods. Her old, worn out converse crushed the leaves beneath her. It seemed as the rest of the world was silent and it was just her and the leaves.
She was nervous for the first time in a long time. The Elders wanted to "speak" to her. She knew that she did nothing wrong, but when the Elders spoke to Andy Dawson, he was dead just a couple hours later just like all the others before him. She began to look at the trees around her and began to see the beauty she had walked past for years but never took the time to stop and admire. She was starting to memorize how the sun felt against her face and how the wind blew through her hair. Before she knew it she was crying.
She knew that she was a monster that needed to be put down, but deep down inside she didn't want to be. She began thinking of her family that she left years ago because of her secret. She was pulled out of her flash backs when her phone vibrated.
"WHERE ARE YOU?" it was from Diana, her best friend. Even though she was about 200 years older, they always felt like they were twins. They did every thing toghethor.
Alexxa began to dash for the entrance of the abandoned asylum the Nightworld used as the Elders meeting place. Diana was waiting outside.
"I got worried, I thought you weren't going to come." Diana whispered to me as we made our way down the hallway. "I wouldn't dare! I was just taking my sweet time because that may have been the last time I would walk outside," I said looking down. "Don't talk like that!" Diana said a little louder. "Well you know that it is a possibility, but I guess I will just have to wait and see." Alexxa said and turning into the Elders room before Diana could do anything about it.
"Hello, we are glad the you have finally decided to show." Said the head Elder. His name was Elijah, he looked so young but in all reality he was really old. He stared straight at Alexxa with his peircing green eyes.
Alexxa nodded in agreement and sat down uneasily into the empty seat. The Elder to Elijahs right, Jeniffer began to speak calmly. "Hello Alexxa, what a pleasure it is to finally meet you, I have heard many good things. Then why am I here?, Alexxa thought to herself. Jennifer continued. "We have a job for you. We need you to find Jake Samuels, a senior at Burning Springs high. We need you to befriend him then bring him here. We need him as a sacrafice for the winter solstice celebration. If you could do this the witches and vampires will finally be united." "But why him? Why not just some random human?" Alexxa asked, quickly regretting what she just said.
All the Elders turned to her with shocked expressions on their faces. It was considered rude to question an assignment from the Elders. Elijah smiled,"What a valid question, one I had asked myself when I first heard of this. Can you explain why this particular human Jennifer?" Jennifer was furious but controlled her anger and said quietly, "Because his blood has a vampire and witch blood traces in it. It was prophisized that when a human was born with this blood we would use him as the sacrafice to bind the vampire and witches toghethor.
Alexxa smiled then looked at Jeniffer and Elijah straight in the eye and said, "Consider it Done". Alexxa then walked out of the room and closed the door.
'I like her." Elijah said smiling. Jeniffer turned to him with a serious look on her face, "No Elijah! She is off limits, she has a mission to finish and cannot afford to have any distractions." "Why are you trying to help her? I saw what you were thinking about her and it wasn't pretty." Elijah said smiling knowing that he won. He then continued, "Anyways we are over Jeniffer, we've been over for a while now." He said with a grim expression on his face. Jennifer walked out of the room looking down. Some of the members looked dissapointed in Elijah while some just snickered.
Meanwhile...
"Alexxa! Your alive!!" Diana yelled, giving Alexxa a tight hug. "I know, I know." Alexxa said with equal excitment. "So, what did they tell you?" Diana eagerly asked while walking out the door of the asylum, holding it open for Alexxa. " They just told me that I needed to find Jake Samuels, he is going to be a sacrafice for the winter solstice."
