Think of Me when it Rains
Life's never been easy for seventeen year old Amy Stephenson, but in the summer of 2011 things only get worse. Is it possible that her mother is really linked to the mysterious chain of murders of people close to them? If so, what does that make Amy?
But as she watches her whole world come crashing down around her, someone's there to lift her up from the darkness. Consumed by the dark world Lee Taylor lives in, soon Amy finds herself in too deep to turn back.
Chapter 1
Meeting Lee.
It was that day, on the first day of August, around midday, that I saw him for the first time.
I was stretched out on the yellowish grass, The Letter Black - There'll Come A Day playing through my iPod. I was doodling in my notebook, trying to draw a small bird sitting on a branch on a nearby oak tree. The problem was, the bird kept moving - and he didn't stay on the oak tree for very long. As he flitted from branch to branch, I soon realised that it was completely hopeless trying to capture his image.
Instead, I rolled onto my back and rubbed more suncream into my arm. "There'll come a day when I can hold you and say it's forever, there'll come a day when these broken lives fade back together..." I sung under my breath as my iPod played.
"Nice." said I voice behind me. I whipped round, and felt my cheeks burn red, which had absolutely nothing to do with the sun. A boy was standing behind me, about seventeen or eighteen. His skin was tanned - and a natural, smooth, bronze tan too, nothing fake about it. He had dark blonde hair, which seemed to be lighter at the front than the back. His eyes were blue, and...mesmerizing. The weird thing was, I couldn't help thinking that he was absolutely gorgeous, but he was the complete opposite of the kind of guy I like. I like guys with pale skin, dark hair, and multiple piercings. But this godlike creature, the exact contrast of my taste yet still so impossibly stunning, stood in front of me making my heart race.
"Um." I said, fighting for breath. "I was...singing. To my iPod." I laughed nervously and held up my headphones.
"I figured that." he said. He came a little closer. "The Letter Black, right? There'll Come A Day."
"I...yeah." Now I was nodding like an idiot.
"I thought I was the only one here who liked those guys. Nice to know I'm not alone after all."
I didn't know what to say, really. I just carried on nodding stupidly.
"What's your name?" he asked, with a friendly - and drop-dead gorgeous - smile.
"Amy." I said. For once, I'd almost managed to keep the tremble out of my voice. "Yourself?"
"Lee." He grinned ruefully. "Lee Taylor."
"Nice to meet you," I whispered.
He laughed slightly. "You too."
